We had more snow today but so far the
temperature is just above freezing so it is pretty much melting as it hits the
earth. My daffodils have been blooming for about 3 weeks and the hyacinths this
last week…. But they seem to be surviving the blanket of snow so far. Last fall
I bought a bag of hyacinths bulbs that was marked ‘mixed colours’….I got one
white and the rest are pink….this explains why I seldom bother to buy a lotto
ticket!
Today’s
card is another new-to-me technique. I’m not sure where I saw this done on
YouTube but it may have been Jennifer McGuire…she does a lot of different
techniques.
The first thing I did was to take a piece of 8 ½” x 11”
piece of dark cardstock and made one card base from one side and cut the other
to, two 4 ¼” x 5 ½” pieces. Then the flowers were stamped…first with white ink
and then dark blue ink on one of the dark blue cardstock pieces – I definitely
got this hint from Jennifer McGuire….did the same for the stems and leaves on
green cardstock. Then I hand cut the flowers; leaves and stems. Then I took the
left over piece of the dark blue cardstock and sliced about a 2” piece down the
centre and added the white strips along the sides. Before gluing it down I set
it where it would be to get an idea where to stamp the small flower branches on
the card base. They were stamped in white and then the centre piece was glued
to the matching dark blue card base. The sentiment was stamped on a piece of
white cardstock and then glued at an angle across the card. It’s okay but I do
believe it can be improved so I will try this technique again.
That’s
all for a cold and snowy Friday, April 17, 2020. Wishing you all a happy and safe weekend and I’ll
be back on Monday with another card. Stay home and stay safe please.
