A Repurposed Card

 

        It’s Wednesday…also known as ‘hump’ day by some people because it’s the top of a hump (hill) and you now slide into the weekend. We’re retired so it’s pretty much just another day for us.

        Today’s card is a repurposed card that I quite liked how it turned out. I love to take old greeting cards that would be tossed into the recycle bin and use some of it for another card. Oh, I know that eventually it too will end up in the recycle bin or even, shudder, garbage, but before then, it brings pleasure to someone else.

 

The middle part of this card was from an old greeting card that a friend’s friend gave to her and she passed them on to me. I simply cut out the middle piece and wrapped some pretty thread that has sequins in it, around the card. Then a pretty pink tag that has a peel-off gold sentiment on it was strung through the thread. It’s held in place with a glue dot. Then it was all glued to a pink card base. This was definitely a quick and easy card.

Winter's Back....and a Card

        Winter’s back….brrrr. It barely got above freezing today and we had both rain and snow showers all afternoon. But the temperatures dropped to below freezing by the supper hour and the snow stayed. Here’s what we have right now….and likely more to come tonight.

        I’ve decided to take the time to try some new-to-me techniques in card making while we are in self-isolation. I seldom do inlay cards and there are many ways to do it. Here’s is one I made.

        The rose was die cut out of white cardstock and then sat on my desk for days as I wondered what to do with it. I finally decided on the in-lay technique so I took some white cardstock and quickly added some water colour paint for a light water colour look. Because it was plain cardstock, I had to work quickly and not work the paint too much or it would pill up. Once it was dry I used the same die to die cut the painted cardstock but left the pieces in the die as it was flipped over. I tore off a piece of Press and Seal and placed it over the die and pressed the bits securely to the Press and Seal. That way they stayed in place as the die was removed. Then the stitched circle was die cut and the rose outline and leaves were glued in on to it. Then a bit of glue was squeezed into a couple of places and it was easy to simply pick up the inlay pieces and lay them down in the correct spot.  It was actually quicker than I thought it would be.

        To finish off the card a piece of dark brown ribbon was added down the left side; then the circle was glued down; then the die cut Kraft banner was glued on with dimensional tape. A gold peel-off sentiment and flower were added to the banner. Then it was all glued to a Kraft card base. I’ll make some of these using some different techniques too.

Feathers on a Card

        It’s the last Monday in February – yay! March is coming on Saturday and March is one bit closer to spring! It was a very mild weekend here in Ontario – unless you were out by the lake where the wind was quite strong. We took a drive out and I shot some photos of the waves throwing water up over the trees where it froze – and even on and over the roofs of some houses. Beautiful to see but glad I don’t live there. Here are a few of the photos.,,,best viewed if you double click on them to enlarge them.

        Today’s card is a thank you card I made. I really liked how it turned out and I think it would make a nice birthday or thinking of you card as well. 

         I have this feather embossing folder and ran some white cardstock through it and then didn’t know what to do with it. So, I decided to sponge some Distress ink over and wow, did those feathers stand out then. Then I found this piece of lime green cardstock in the green stash that matched some green card bases I have and decided to us that as the focal point….die cut it using a Spellbinder’s fancy label. To pick up some of the blue that’s in the feathers, I die cut the sentiment (old Cuttlebug die) out of blue cardstock a couple of times; glued them together and added them a little above the middle so I could add a yellow die cut leaf stem to bring some yellow in.

Wild Flowers and Butterflies on a Card

        The heat wave finally broke yesterday and we were able to turn off the A/C and open the windows. It’s a beautiful day here today but it may be hot again by Thursday.

        Joe had an excellent physiotherapist come to the house to help him recover from his stroke. She gave him exercises to do that helped so much he can now walk without a cane even…he holds the cane though in case he needs it. She was so pleasant, helpful and nice I decided to make a special thank you card for her. Her last visit was last Friday and I just got it finished in time. I actually made three and gave Joe the right to pick the one he liked the best. This is the one he picked.

 

         The background started out as white cardstock and I sponged various Distress Inks around it and then splattered it with water to get those lovely speckles. The wild flowers were die cut out of black cardstock. I laid them on the card and decided it needed something else. So the stitched frame was die cut out of white cardstock and I sponged the same inks in roughly the same position as the base and once again sprinkled it with water. Then it was glued on which just gave it that wee bit of dimension that was missing. A couple of the wild flowers were tucked behind the frame and one on top of the frame. Then the sentiment was die cut and glued on. After looking at it for awhile I decided it needed something else so two die cut butterflies were added. It was then glued to a purple card base. Hope she liked it.

A Masculine Card

        I’m taking a few minutes to post another card. The same friend that requested a 50^th wedding anniversary card also requested a thank you card for a man. This is what I came up with.

        First thing I did was dig through the green stash to find some soft green paper/cardstock and found it! The designer paper at the top was taped to a piece of light sage green and set aside. An oval Spellbinder’s circle was used to die cut the oval from the same sage green. I wanted something light to put the green oval on and I thought this pale yellow would work. I cut a piece off and ran it through the wood grain embossing folder. A left over piece was cut to about 1/3” and it placed it over the seam. Before gluing the green oval on, I put it in my T.H. stamp positioner and stamped the trees – Stampin’ Up Silhouette – I stamped it two or three times to get a good strong impression. Before gluing the pieced background to the white card base, I stamped the sentiment – also in the stamp positioner. Once everything was glued down I just added the black dew drops. She really liked it – whew!
I think this could easily be a masculine birthday card as well just by changing the sentiment.

New Stamp Set...New Card

Another nice but cool day; another walk through the bush; and one last time cutting the grass! We may have some snow squalls tomorrow – yuck!

Today’s card was made using a new Stampin’ Up stamp set that I bought on an auction. It fits this challenge over at Simon Says.

First I stamped and embossed the flower stem and the sentiment in gold…the sentiment is part of the stamp set. The flower is one of those stamps that you stamp multiple times to get the shading…love them! This one did not come with a leaf I liked so I used a fancy scroll from another old set as leaves....love them and will use them again.The one I stamped first on the background didn’t turn out as well as I thought it should have. So, I re-stamped it on white cardstock and this time I really liked how it turned out so I cut it out and glued it on top….if anyone asks though I’m saying it was a design decision that I intended all along!!! Before gluing it to the card base I wrapped some gold twine around it. A simple but lovely card I think.

A Something Old and Something New Card

This has been a wonderful warm, almost hot, week here in Ontario. Joe said he thinks he’s covered up the A/C unit a few days too soon but it cools off nicely at night so we’ve done fine with it off. Cold temperatures coming overnight with rain though and temperatures likely in the high 60’s for the next week or so.

This is the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend….and we have so much to be thankful for too. My thoughts are with those in Haiti, Florida, Georgia and up the coast that are battling the hurricane. We quite often get the tail end of these hurricanes but nothing like what they are getting.  

Joe and I both love birds and we have five different feeders in the back yard. We have a small beaded cup that hangs on one of the feeders that I fill with whole peanuts for the blue jays. I sometimes just barely make it back into the house when the jays are there getting a peanut. Here are a few shots I took of them last week.

 

He dropped one and immediately went down to get it.

Only one left?

The same blue jay took all the peanuts. He kept flying just a short way away, different direction each time, hid it somewhere and then returned for another one. I have no idea how he knows where he hides them.

Today’s card was made with something old and something new.

 

The tag was made as a make-and-take at our local scrapbooking store, The Paper Pickle, probably a couple or three years ago. I pulled it out and decided I just had to use it up. So I took a piece of yellow cardstock and ran it through an embossing folder and then just gently rubbed a brown ink pad over the embossed bits to hi-lite them. Then it was glued to a kraft card base which happens to match the tag. The tag was adhered with dimensional foam and then small red gems were added to some of the flowers. This would be a quick and easy card to make even if the tag wasn’t already made. In fact, I may make some more as thinking of you or birthday cards.

A Quick and Easy Card

It’s almost 11:00 pm so this is going to be a quick post. Neither one of us slept well last night.......just one of those nights...... so Joe decided this morning that we should go to the lake for a bike ride….are you kidding me??? Didn’t you hear me say I’m tired??? Yes, and the best thing to do if you are tired is exercise…..groan…..okay so we went and 27.5 km later I did feel better mentally….physically, still tired…..but he was right, we had a great day and he even bought us lunch so I didn’t have to cook.

In the spring I signed up for a fun night of card making in June at our local Stampin’ Up dealer’s house, The Pampered Stamper – and then promptly forgot to go!!! Unbelievable! I paid for it and forgot about it but she was nice enough to drop off all the bits to make the cards – all stamped and cut out – bonus. It turns out I can really crank out cards fast when someone does all the prep work. I have no idea what they looked at in the class – she did offer to give me private lessons but I declined and decided to just do my own thing with them….here’s one that I finished very quickly.

 

The card base was yellow and in the package was this die cut fancy flower scroll – love it! It was already stamped with the sentiment too. The blue strip was double-sided so I just picked the side that I liked the best and glued it down. The Stampin’ Up glue with the tiny nozzle works best for gluing down these intricate die cuts. Then there was this piece in the package for the inside of the card…..

 

……love this idea with stamping the flowers up right and up side down with the sentiment in the middle. Don’t forget you are more than welcome to save any cards to your Pinterest account for future reference.

A Quick Card

Well that was one of the best weeks and weekends weather-wise we’ve had for a long time. The Canada Day celebrations with the family were great, the long bike ride the next day was great, a day off to recuperate was nice and then another long bike ride Saturday and a BBQ and hike on Sunday. While we hiked on Sunday we saw several birds, including Baltimore Orioles, Yellow Warblers, Woodpeckers, a Kingfisher and a Great Egret. This is the first time I’ve got even a so-so picture of the Kingfisher. Here it is…..not a great shot but good enough to prove we saw it.

And the Egret was a long way away but I did capture it and it actually made a nice wall-paper photo for my desktop computer. Here is the Egret.

Today’s card is one of those ‘I need a card and I need it quick” card.

I love small paper packs because all the paper matches and it’s quick to put something together. I took two greens (left over pieces) – the top and the bottom and laid them out on the card base – didn’t quite meet. I found the middle green in the stash (with the sentiment already stamped) and it matched perfectly so I placed it on top and glued everything down. This piece of green came from either a friend or the thrift store because I don’t have that sentiment stamp. I added a gold peel-off line on the edges of the middle panel and a peel-off lady bug and called it done. Sometimes less really is enough.

First Card with the Fiskar Fuse Flowers

Well the weekend was a wash-out! Oh my once it started to rain (along with a thunderstorm) Saturday afternoon it didn’t stop until Sunday night. There are lots of flooding in low lying areas too. Not as bad as Texas mind you but still a lot of rain fell. And cold….brrrr….we were tempted to turn the A/C on a couple of days last week and yesterday morning I had to turn the furnace on just to get the damp chill out of the house. Same thing this morning and likely tomorrow as they are calling for the chance of frost in some areas. Crazy weather!

Today’s card is the first one that actually got finished using the new Fiskar’s fuse things I bought. Here is the package of them so you will know what I’m using.

See it says “die-cut and letter press in one pass”! Well, maybe it does if you own their letterpress machine but I don’t. First thing I did was check out YouTube to see if anyone else had tried these on a Big Shot and I got some ideas. The first few things I tried ripped the paper and they went into the garbage. I tried the fun foam that one lady said worked best but it ripped the paper and it really indented the foam to so that would be very expensive to use. Finally I hit the right combination: The Big Shot platform but no tabs; then the cutting pad; then a piece of quilt batting; the Fiskar’s die(?)(not sure what to call these); the second cutting pad and run it through. Accceptable. Here’s the card.

I just used a piece of white cardstock as the trial and as you can see it die letterpress the flowers quite nicely. What's really nice is you can use as many flowers as you like and you can place them anywhere. Because it actually worked I had to then make something out of it. Into the stash I went and found that lovely pink polka dot paper and the darker plain paper. The polka dot paper was just glued on and then I ran two gold peel-off lines on either side to hide the edge. The card was inked around the edge with dark ink. The sentiment and little flowers came with a Cuttlebug alphabet set. More experiments to be shown as the week goes by!

A Thank You Card and Birds and Beavers

Well we had a wonderful weekend and hope all of you did too. Bird watching was hit and miss, as usual, as a lot of the warblers were very high in the trees so it was hard to identify them. As one lady said, “It’s like watching black dots jumping around.” However, last night around the supper hour Joe and I decided to walk one last trail before heading home (an ice cream break recharged the energy level) and we were the only ones on the trail and the much sought after Prothonotary Warbler showed up and we watched it and photographed it for over half an hour before others showed up. I got so many good shots of him (yes, this was the male) it was hard to narrow down the favourites but I’m posting 5 of them….along with one Rose-breasted Grosbeak and the beaver! Yes, Rondeau now has beavers and this one put on quite a show for us. They are huge – and quite ugly in my opinion.

Now for the card:

I wanted to make some simple thank you cards for the quilt guild to give to our guest presenters. This is one of them. The background was embossed and then lightly touched with dark brown ink to just hit the embossed areas in places. Sometimes I like all the embossed areas hi-lited but sometimes less is more. Then I just added the brown strip and added gold strips (peel-offs) to the top and bottom of it and added the peel-off sentiment. The peel-off rose was glued to white cardstock and then I coloured it in and glued it on. A simple but nice thank you card.

Getting Blown Away.....

Well we’ve had a couple of lovely April days here in Southern Ontario. Oh wait, it’s November isn’t it! Last week we were hit with frigid arctic air and snow; then came the mild temperatures and rain; goodbye snow. It rained off and on all day yesterday and all night with viscous winds gusting up to almost 100km/hr (60 mph) at times. Trouble was this was recycling day on our street and several of our neighbour’s boxes went flying around; some found, some not. Ours tipped over but Joe happened to see it and ran out and picked everything up before it could blow away. Today it was close to 15C (59C) but tonight it will drop down to just above freezing. I think this is why there is so much sickness going around! Crazy weather.

Today’s card is a sweet Magnolia image.

 

It was coloured once again with my Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol….except for the blue around the image which is chalk. All the paper is from the stash and squares were die cut with the Spellbinder’s die set. The flowers are a porcelain type and quite heavy so this card will have to be hand delivered. I have no idea where they came from because they were part of a miscellaneous package of various embellishments from the thrift store. I think this would be good for either a thinking of you, thank you or birthday card.

"Thank You! Thank You Verra Much"

 Who said "Thank you verra much" all the time - find out at the end of the post.

Well I spent the day working on my grandson’s Halloween costume. This kid never seems to pick a costume that there is a pattern for! I thought this time he did but once again, I was wrong. He just wanted a large, loosely fitting red coat with a hood and a symbol of a comic book hero on the back. I found a pattern that I thought was pretty close to what he wanted and cut it out. Hmmm. First problem….why am I putting both the back and the front on the fold? Then I read the instructions – which I seldom use by the way – oh, oh, this is not a coat it is more like a monk’s dress and the neck line is gathered to fit over the kid’s head. This is not what his action hero wears so this has to change.  Okay so I cut the front open. Okay, then I had to figure out how to gather the neckline still and add a closure. Oh, oh! another problem: The hood actually belongs to this little cape like thing that went over the other part, and not attached to what I just cut out. I’ll worry about attaching that later. This went on and on all day. I would figure out one problem and it would create another. One thing I am, is stubborn and I hate to give up on something so I kept at it….and it is all done except the bottom and sleeve hems and sewing on the buttons. I’ll do that tomorrow….I need to step away from it for awhile. I thought this project would be done in an afternoon – HAH!

My spell and grammar check needs an upgrade. It tried to change “why am I” to “why is I” and “I need to step away” to “I needs to step away”. Why is I???? Hoo boy, that’s the way my day has gone!

Today I’m posting two cards with the same image but different backgrounds. I found this Elvis silhouette on the Internet and decided to use it in a thank you card. I’m a BIG, BIG, BIG Elvis fan so I just couldn’t resist.

These were printed out on my ink jet printer so I just sponged Distress Ink Mustard seed around the image and then the blue around the edge while the image was still in the Spellbinder rectangle die – this leaves that nice white border. They were then glued to another rectangle.  For the first card I took one patterned paper and one sold blue joined them together and then cut them down to card size. The silver lines are Dazzles (stickers from Paper Wishes) and so is the sentiment. I decided to put the sentiment on an angle to offset the microphone….besides it looked kind of funky. 

For the second card I used the rest of that patterned paper, plus a strip and a circle that were left over from other cards and another sentiment but this time I put it on almost straight. I think I like the slanted one better but oh well. The inside of the card will say, “Thank you! Thank you verra much!” which is what Elvis used to drawl after the applause. Only a die hard Elvis fan will get this but oh well, I like them.

A Ramdom Act of Kindness and a Card

We had another lovely summer day here today. It was errand and grocery day though so no bike ride or hike….except through the grocery store. I had the most pleasant experience at the grocery store. I had picked up a box of 6 Kleenex tissues that were on sale but as I was at the check out I was having second thoughts about them because the boxes were so small I was thinking it was not much of a bargain….and if you read my blog, you know that I love a bargain! The lady ahead of me had a HUGE order so I was just standing there and turned to look back and the lady behind me looked like my best friend who is gone for the entire summer. We started chatting and I noticed she had three packs of 6 boxes of tissues (of the kind I usually buy) as well so I figured they must have been on sale too and I asked her what they cost and she told me $2.99! I couldn’t believe it. Hubby had wandered off to the magazine section and I was wondering how I was going to go get them when her hubby showed up. I asked her if he would know where they are or could she watch my order so I could go get them. She immediately said no, he wouldn’t know where they were but she did and how many did I want and off she went. She came back with the last two packs! It’s funny how one simple random act of kindness and can just make your day – and I told her that. She was so nice.

So, now on with the posting. Today’s card is for the challenge over at Stamping Bella where we had to use one of her Uptown Girl stamps.

 

I wanted another thank you card so what says thank you better than a coffee with friends! This was coloured with Prismacolor pencils. All the layers were die cut with the Spellbinder Card Creator dies. The banner was die cut out of the same paper as the dark rectangle and then I wrote “thanks” with a gold pen. The tag is from a QuicKutz die from the same paper as the base layer but the edges were inked. The sentiment is from a set of Celtic stamps I picked up on sale at Michaels a few months ago and never used and it was perfect for this card. The tag is adhered with dimensional glue dots and embroidery floss was tied in a bow through the top.

That’s all for a Friday. We are having two of our young grandsons all next week so if I don’t post it’s because this Grandma is too tired by the end of the day to even type! They are well behaved boys and a joy to have but they are busy, busy, busy boys – as they should be. Wish me luck and stamina keeping up with them!

A Thank You Card and a Stinging Hand

I’m typing with a handicap today – a very painful one. This was yard work day and I usually have on gardening gloves but I had removed them to water the flowers. I saw a weed I had missed and reached down to pull it out and it was not just an ordinary weed – it was a stinging nettle. Ouch, ouch, ouch. This happened well over an hour ago and the hand is still stinging – but I cannot see any of the nettles to get them out. Maybe they just have to work themselves out….and if so, I wish they would hurry. Terrible weed, just terrible.

I needed a couple of thank you cards and I had time to make two this week. Painting the milk can has been the craft of the week instead of card making though…but not tonight with a stinging hand. This is an old Stamping Bella stamp. It’s probably not available anymore as she has retired so many of them. 

The image was coloured with a combination of Prismacolor pencils and alcohol markers. Blue chalk was brushed around the edge and yellow close to the image – that really made her pop.

All the paper is from the stash. Fancy dies are different Spellbinders sets. I’ve just started to combine dies from different sets and so far I like it. The tag is from QuicKutz. I ran a patterned purple piece of paper (try saying “patterned purple piece of paper” five times quickly) through the Swiss Dots embossing folder to give it more dimensions. There are thin gold lines down each side which are fancy stickers from Paper Wishes called Dazzles – love these. The sentiment is also a gold sticker and the little lines underneath of it. It will do as a thank you card.

A Butterfly Thank You Card and a Garden Visitor

Tis a very hot day here in Ontario and I do believe it is brewing up a thunderstorm for tonight. Our barometer went back an inch since this morning. We’ve yet to turn the A/C on though as neither one of us enjoy it much until it becomes very humid which makes sleeping difficult.

We had a very nice visit this morning from a Northern Flicker. We don’t usually see them here in town but he was enjoying a breakfast of ants along our driveway about 8:00 this morning so I grabbed my camera and got a couple good shots of him while standing in the doorway. Flickers are part of the woodpecker family. You can see the dirt on his beak from poking it into the ground.

 

We quite often see Downy Woodpeckers at our peanut feeder all year long. It doesn‘t matter how full the feeder is, the Downy always hangs from the bottom to eat.

 

 

Today’s card is another one I made using one of my butterfly photos.

 

I liked this Swallowtail shot with the green in the background so I pulled some green paper from the stash, ran a black pen around some of them and the photos and fitted them together. There was no plan or reason, I just played with some bits and pieces until I liked the arrangement and then glued it all down. The sentiment is a sticker and then I added three green gems. Sometimes these are my favourite cards.

A Tea Cup Thank You Card but with a Heavy Heart

The rain left but the cool wind remained today so I was pretty much grounded. I did take a chance and watered the garden this afternoon when the wind went down a bit but that was it for me outside today. My heart if heavy today after reading about the police officers gunned down in Moncton, N.B. this morning by a mentally deranged man. This, a day after my own granddaughter was attacked by her former friend and roommate (who hid her mental disorders for awhile) and has a concussion and stitches in her face. (The girl is now in jail) Please pray not only for those that were hurt and for the families of those killed but for all the people who suffer from mental illnesses. Pray they get help before they hurt someone else. Tis a sad world some days.

On a less serious note, I needed a thank you card for a friend of mine who saved some card sleeves for me and this is what I sent her, along with a quilting pattern I think she will enjoy making.

 

The image is a Magnolia stamp and all the oval and rectangle dies are from Spellbinders. The image was coloured with Prismacolor pencils and then I painted on Glossy Accents over the tea cup to make it shiny like glass. The sentiment was die cut with a Provo Craft die and then I just punched out a flower from a piece of the left over blue paper and added a blue gem in the centre. The paper is from the stash. Yup, still using the stash and yet it never seems to go down.

A Card for the Scrapbook & CardsToday Challenge

I won the great debate! The doctor gave me the okay to go back to Aqua Fit! He believes that the laryngitis is caused by allergies and it will not likely clear up until we have a couple heavy frosts – and it will likely come back next spring again – lovely! I had laryngitis for over 7 weeks this spring and I’m now on three weeks of it now. Obviously my throat is my weak spot – from over-use likely!!!

Last Saturday was National Card Making day (and I didn’t make even one card) but Scrapbook & Cards Today had a blitz on all day with lots of tips and techniques and draws posted every hour for 12 hours. Apparently they had over 22,000 hits that day so the chances of winning one of the prizes is pretty low – but I’ve won from them before so you never know….someone has to! At the end of the day they posted a challenge to make a thank you card with an envelope using the following: chipboard, stickers, 2 cardstock, 3 designer papers and twine. Here’s my card and envelope.

 

I decided to use some of the tips and techniques that they had posted throughout the day – the paper circle and banners! So I took three pieces of designer paper from a Studio g 6x6 paper pack that I had and cut three circles using three different Spellbinders dies, folded and unfolded them to give them dimension and glued them together with glue dots. Then I took the same three papers and cut three banners and notched the ends and tucked them behind the circle. The dark brown and the light green cardstock pieces are from my stash so I don’t know the manufacturer. The chipboard was a die cut from a Cuttlebug die and I had to die cut it twice and glue it together to make it thicker. The gold stickers are from a peel-and-stick sheet.  The button in the middle of the flower is from the same brown as the one on the card. I die cut a button from a Cuttlebug die with the paper doubled and then added the twine. The bottom of the brown cardstock was run through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dot embossing folder to give some extra dimension near the bottom. I wanted the top left plain so I could add the chipboard sentiment and stickers. For the envelope I lined the inside with one of the papers used for the flower and banner.

A Hummingbird Thank You Card

Well if you weren’t in Ontario Friday night you missed the storm of the year. The thunderstorms started at 7:00 p.m. and at first they were just the run of the mill thunderstorms; but, about 1:00 a.m. they turned vicious. In fact there were tornado warnings out throughout most of the province. Never, ever have I seen lightning like that. Scary! Joe, of course, slept through it!  They said some areas received over 6” of rain in a very short time which resulted in lots of fields flooded and rivers over-flowed. My oldest daughter’s campground had a mini twister hit and it took out about 50 trees – sad….but it could have been worse.

 

My daughter with the three year old told him they were going to sleep in the basement because of the thunderstorm. He loves thunderstorms by the way. She didn’t mention it was because they were under a tornado watch and the house is surrounded by trees. It was a great adventure for him and the next night he wanted to know if he could sleep in the “thunderstorm bed” again. Only a three year old! We didn’t lose power here but lots of the area did and some were still without it today. The storm did break the terribly high humidly – didn’t get rid of it, but its back to its normal ranges now.

We managed to get a bike ride in Saturday afternoon, after cleaning up debris off the lawn in the morning and a great BBQ along the river on Sunday. Too busy to hit the crafting table over the weekend but I was back at it today. Today’s card is one I made using the hummingbird stamped image.

 

 

For this card I first stamped the stamp with Versamark and then Stampin’ Up Hunter Green and then sprinkled on clear embossing powder and heat set it. It was then coloured with Twinkling H20’s and chalk sponged around it. I just happened to have that piece of wine cardstock that was the same colour as the flower so I die cut a hole using the Spellbinder’s Peony die and taped the image behind it. The card base was covered with the pink flowered paper and then I added the wine. The banner was cut from a piece of the same designer paper and I notched each end and then I added the peel-and-stick sentiment.
