GOLD MEDAL!

GOLD! Canada’s men’s hockey team won the gold medal. That was worth getting up early for! I can feel an afternoon nap coming on though!

You can always tell the men that actually pay attention to what their wives do. The other night we were watching the Olympics and Joe turned to me and said, “I keep seeing those jackets people are wearing. They remind me of the crazy quilts you make.” Wow, he even knows some quilting terminology!

I thought I’d show some more jewellery I made recently. The first two are from beads I picked up at the thrift store in one of those “you never know what is in it” packages. I knew they had beads but couldn’t tell how many of each. I took a chance and I’m glad I did. I don’t own any really expensive jewellery and I don’t want any. I’d be so worried about losing it I would not enjoy wearing it so it’s costume jewellery only for me.

The one bag had those beautiful wine coloured glass beads so all I had to do was add the gold ones which I already had. This is a memory wire bracelet, five rounds in all.

This package just had these few green glass beads so I just added the small ones from my stash and made a single round memory wire bracelet.

I’m not sure where I bought these lamp work beads, but probably on sale somewhere. I paired them up with some red and white tri beads on elastic. Nothing special but I like it and good for when I'm having a funky day!

That’s all from a tired Violet.

Cheers

Beads from Ireland

Well for once I don’t have to complain about the weather. Today is pretty much the more typical winter weather – just above the freezing mark but with cool gusts of wind and with the sun shining. I decided it would be a good idea to go for a long walk – and yes I wore my boots this time. It would have been a great walk if the sidewalks were cleared off but some of them were down right treacherous. However I made it back with out twisting or breaking an ankle or falling on my arse. I was gone so long hubby was getting a bit worried though. Nice to be married for over 25 years and still have him worry about me!

Many thanks to Jinxxxygirl who left yet another sweet comment on yesterday’s post. So glad to read that one American (and my most faithful follower) is not overly upset that Canada won the hockey game. From what I read on the Internet, things are pretty hot and nasty with some people swearing they are cutting down every Maple tree they own, throwing out their Maple syrup and refusing to serve a Canadian in a restaurant, and on and on. People please, it was a hockey game! The American team lost today to Finland as well but that seems to be okay. Weird. So, to all my American readers, please remember, it is just a game and it could have gone either way. Of course I was rooting for Canada but for the record when the USA team was playing other countries, we were rooting for the Americans.

I thought I would post something different today. As well as quilting, sewing, card making, scrapbooking and painting, I like to make jewellery once in awhile. My daughter and her hubby went over to Ireland a few years ago and brought me back some beautiful beads. I found some smaller beads to go with them the larger ones to make it long enough for a necklace. Here’s what I did with them.

And here’s a close up. They look hand painted and perhaps they are. I’m not sure but I do love them.

And that is all for a Saturday.

Cheers

Violet
