When I first decided to quilt I really didn't anything about how to go about it other then you buy fabric, cut it apart and then sew it back together again. I didn't even know they made a special foot for the sewing machine called the 1/4" foot for sewing accurate 1/4" seams. That's why I decided to make crazy quilts because I thought all those wonderfully talented quilters 'guessed', and guessed accurately, 1/4" seams and I knew I couldn't do it. I had just had brain surgery which screwed up my eyesight (and how that is related is still a mystery to me) but what with getting over eye ulcers (yes ulcers) and then severe bletheritis my focus level was a little on the weak side. Thank goodness for Dr. Fraser who finally got the eyes cleared of infection and prescribed very strong prism glasses to force my eyes to focus and I could once again read a book and sew. I actually went about 3 years without being able to read a book! Terrible thing not to be able to do.
So I practiced my crazy quilt skills by making one for me and then made one for my grandchildren. Only had two at the time.
Here is Joven's Dinosaur Crazy Patch Quilt. Isn't he a cutie!
