A Yellow Card and Yellow-headed birds and more.

They were calling for more severe thunderstorms over the lake again today and being in the bush is not the best place to be during a thunderstorm so we opted not to go to Rondeau. The migratory birds are not stopping here like they do other years so the number of each specie is down quite a bit. No one quite knows why they don’t stop and rest but a lot of them just keep going. We see the same birds as we do other years but we have to walk a lot farther and spend more time to see them. So instead we drove up to Mitchell’s Bay to see if we could find the Yellow-headed Blackbirds – and we did. I’m posting a card first, and then the birds.

This card is another one coloured with Prismacolor pencils. It was a free digi download so very little colouring was required.

The rectangles were all die cut with the Spellbinder’s Card-Creator die set, and the label was a Spellbinder die as well. After layering it all and finding the perfect ribbon for it I just added the little fabric butterfly.

And here are the birds – and a turtle and duck

The Yellow-headed blackbirds are further east than they should be. They turned up here in Southern Ontario a few years ago and return each year now. For a blackbird they are quite nice.

 

And we saw an American Coot

And we saw the largest snapping turtle we have ever seen. This thing was HUGE!
