Stars

We had to stay home and get the grass cut today and oh boy was that tough going. It was long and wet and Joe had quite the time going through it. He just cut it three days ago but did it ever grow. I cut back the roses which is not my favourite thing to do but they needed to have the frozen stems cut back so new growth can start. Last year we had roses blooming in May but not this year. The cold winter did a number on them and I think we lost three or four. We didn’t finish until about 1:30 and about five minutes later the rain came down. More rain expected tomorrow as well so once again, we will be grounded.

Because of the wet weather put a damper on birding (pun intended) I was able to get my cards done for the challenges I like to enter each week. This week’s Christmas card challenge at Merry Monday was to make a Christmas card with stars. Here is mine.

I hand cut the stars out of some glitter paper using a template from Hot Off the Press. I don’t have any star dies. The lettering was die cut using two different Provo Craft dies and using the same paper as the dark blue. The bottom paper with the light blue stars is from a .99 paper pack from Michaels. I liked the design from the sketch from last week so I placed the two pieces of paper on top of each other, right sides up, and cut them in half but off-centred. Then I switched the pieces and glued them together at the back and added a silver sticker strip down the seam – and added a few silver dots in with the stars.

Because I had cut two pieces of paper I ended up with two extra pieces so instead of adding them to the stash I made another card.

This time I put the dark blue on the bottom and added a silver sticker strip down the centre like in the first card. The snowflake swirl was die cut from a left over piece of the dark blue using a Memory Box die. Once it was glued on I added some silver snowflakes and stars and added some small stars around the silver sticker sentiment. The stickers look gold in the photo but they are actually silver.

Two more Christmas cards done!

Cheers

Violet
