HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
So hard
to believe that tomorrow is November 1. November is my (and Joe’s) least
favourite month….leaves are usually gone (okay not this year but they will be
soon); crops are off; anything green is now brown and dull and it’s usually
overcast. Blah! We have no idea how many kiddies will be here for trick and
treating because it varies each year. Some years its less than 50; some years
its 100. I buy 100 small chocolate bars and when they are gone; Halloween is
over here! Joe’s hoping there are a few of his favourite bars left over and he
has advised me a few times which ones to give out last!
One
of my sisters is going through a difficult time in her life with having to put
my brother-in-law in a nursing home. They have been married 59 years so this is
not easy at all but necessary. She could not keep him at home any longer but he
was actually looking forward to being there and is quite content. So, I sent
her a little ‘take-care’ package consisting of a DVD of all the old family
photos I’ve gathered up; some native lily seeds (her garden is like it should
be part of the RBG (Royal Botanical Garden); pictures and story of the truck driven
by a drunk that forgot to turn and smashed into the garage next door last week…………..
………………and
this funny card.
This
time I ran the kraft cardstock through the brick embossing folder. The window
frame is the same Memory Box die and it was die cut from a old greeting card.
(A lot of tips and hints about using this die are on a previous blog post so
feel to scroll back a bit to find it). This time I added some lace across the
top so it would appear to be the inside of the house. The windows were lined
with the left over plastic from craft packages, as usual. The image is from Art
Impressions. Love their stamps and this one is a hoot. It was coloured with
Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol. The sentiment is from HOTP I think
and it was stamped, mounted and attached with a dimensional glue strip.
That’s
all for a sunny but cool October day…. 31, 2016-10-31. We have had a few nights
of hard frost so the trees are finally turning colour.
Cheers
Violet

My thoughts are with your sister Violet... that has to be such a difficult thing to do... Your care package will be sooo special! I grew up loving care packages in the mail.. My parents were divorced but my Dad was awesome at sending packages! And i lived a part from my beloved grandparents too and they sent packages too and letters and mail... I think thats a big part why i love mail today.. Letters , PostCard....Boxes... Never underestimate the power of a care package. It can mean so much...
ReplyDeleteWe've been terribly warm here.. 80+ degrees F here.. Our warmest Halloween on record they say.. crazy.. the leaves are very dull here this year too.. Ofcourse i think we are too far south to get a really pretty Fall even in the best of times.. They say one more 80 day then we cool off to more seasonable temps.. You know i'm ready for it..
No trick or treaters here.. we live too far out in the boonies.. I did love handing out candy to the kiddos when we lived in CA... Although even then i don't think i got as many kids as you.. I hope Joe got his candy! :) Hugs! deb
