Dove on a Holly Branch Card

A few days ago, or maybe last week, I posted a Christmas card made with a Tim Holtz large pine boughs embossing folder with a small embossed reindeer. The other small embossing folder that came with that set was a dove on a holly branch. Here is the card I made using the dove folder.

Once again  ran the white cardstock thru the large embossing folder and then inked it with Distress Ink Pine needles. I wrapped the red ribbon with white polka dots around it before adhering it to the card base. After embossing the bird and holly I sponged the same Distress Ink around the edges. This embossed piece did not fit any of the Spellbinder dies I have so I just had to cut it to size. Then I carefully coloured the embossed image with a variety of inks by just dipping or dragging the paint brush across the ink pads or down into the edges if there was ink there. This was then mounted on red cardstock and then on a pretty green cardstock die cut and embossed with the Spellbinders Deckled edge die. The big red poinsettia with the small white one inside and topped with a red button brad really pops on the side. The sparkling white string was used to tie the button and a couple of strings glued behind the poinsettia to swing freely finished it off.

I haven't played with these embossing folders since but I'm sure there are more possibilities. More fun to come!
