Butterfly Sympathy Card & one Rare Bird

Another beautiful hot day here in Ontario. If only it would stay like this all summer but it won't. It will be hot and humid before long but that's okay. I'll take that over cold and snow anytime. I spent most of the day out in the yard cleaning up the debris that didn't get cleared last fall and I planted a few seeds. I like to buy 3 or 4 packages of flower seeds, mix them together and toss them! If Joe had is way, all the flowers would be in nice neat rows - but he's not in charge of the flower beds!!

I did manage to steal a half an hour down in the lower studio and finished a couple more cards. I have many that are in various stages of being not-completed!

This card turned out so nicely I may have to make it again - but with different background paper because this is the only piece I had.

The background paper came in with some stacks of paper I picked up at the thrift store. This one was cut to 4" x 5.5" so it fit the card perfectly. I stamped the large butterfly with Distress Ink - Pine Needles - and cut it out and attached it with dimensional glue dots. The tag is a Spellbinders die and I left the paper in the die so I could outline it. The pearls down the butterfly's back really sets it off. They were from the dollar store.

Here is the photo I got of the Painted Bunting. Silly bird is not suppose to be anywhere near here but so glad it stopped in.

The experts are not sure if this is the female or juvenile male. I don't care which it is, I'm just so thankful that I was able to see it and photograph it. Seeing a bird this rare in this area is what us birders refer to as a "lifer" - a bird you will likely just see once in your life.
