A Long Weekend!!

Brrrr. Yes, we are back to brrrrr weather in Ontario. At the first of the week it was about 90ºF and today it hovering around 40ºF. Crazy! This weekend is the long weekend in Canada. It used to be on May 24^th and was called “Victoria Day” to celebrate Queen Victoria’s birthday but it is now celebrated on the third weekend in May and is now referred to as the “May Two-Four” weekend. Go figure. This is the weekend the cottage owners typically open their cottages for the summer and lots of campers will be camping….but they are going to have a cool camping trip. We are not campers but we normally get the bikes out and start our biking season. Hope it goes better than the birding season did. Seeing as we are both retired, long weekends happen every week in our house so it's not really that much different for us but for those who work it is - and remember how it was!

This week’s challenge at Stamping Bella was to make a card with stitching on it…real or inked. Here’s mine.

 

I used one of her new stamps and coloured it with Prismacolor pencils. I used a sentiment from one her other stamps which seemed to fit better for a birthday card. The squares and fancy labels are from Spellbinders. The fancy label was cream coloured but I inked it with orangy/coral ink to give it more life. The bird is a Memory Box die. I die cut it 3 times, cut off the legs of the first bird and then glued them together and coloured it with chalk and blending pen. By cutting the legs off the middle bird it make it look more realistic - at least in my eyes. It is popped up with dimensional glue dots, as is the sentiment. The other paper is from the stash.
