Power Poppy Card

We had a bit of interesting weather this weekend – again! Saturday was quite nice so we had our usual BBQ with my sister and then Joe and I did another 28.8km on the bikes. About 4:30 some dark clouds started to roll in so we headed for home. I’ve never seen clouds in straight layers before – they honestly looked like frosting on the side of a long cake…..but at the end it was twisted…..and a bit scary. I only had my cell phone and I missed the layers but I got a fairly good couple of shots of the twisted cloud – which was a little scary driving towards let me tell you. Here they are:

The blue sky was actually almost black - scary. As we got closer to Chatham there were lost of small tree branches littering the road and in Chatham we saw several trees down....mini tornado maybe?

Sunday was another story – there was a 40% chance of a severe thunderstorm by 2:00 in the afternoon. We opted to go back to Rondeau where there are picnic shelters instead of along the river as we normally do on Sunday because there are no shelters there. It rained and thundered off and on all afternoon but can’t say it was severe, at least not where we were. Today is a beautiful day here in Ontario – the way summer is supposed to be.

Today’s card is a bit different that some others I’ve made but I really like how it turned out. I used my new Poppy Power stamp set that I bought at the Paper Pickle when they had their sale earlier this summer. I’m loving their stamps and more are on my wish list.

 

Some days I just like to sit and colour so I stamped and coloured these flowers a couple of times. These were coloured with my Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol. Soft blue chalk was sponged just around the flowers.

Several months ago I bought the Spellbinder’s fancy scalloped border dies and haven’t used them very often so I decided it was time to experiment. There are both dies that cut out just the inner part but not the edge, and then some cut the edge. This time I die cut the fancy design and the plain scallop edge. Then I die cut jus the plain scallop edge in the bright fuchsia to place behind it. Then I die cut the edge with the tiny circles and glued it behind the rest; and then it was glued to the card front. Lots of layers on this one. The sentiment was stamped in fuchsia.
