Orange Orchids?

I’m very thankful that this wet winter has come as rain and not snow! This has to be the rainiest January ever….and it continues. If it was snow we would be buried! The dreaded brain disorders are still attacking me but not quite as bad so that’s good. (For new readers, I have both trigeminal neuralgia and hemi-facial paralysis and brain surgery back in 2000). So far I’ve organized all my large and medium pieces of scrap paper; narrow strips of paper are now colour co-ordinated as well (yes, it’s a Virgo thing combined with not able to be very creative when the brain is under attack); the ribbons are re-organized and some of the labels and embellishments organized. Hopefully by tomorrow I will be able to get back to quilting.

Today’s card was made with a Penny Black slap-stick stamp.

Instead of using the entire stamped image vertically, I stamped it horizontal and then trimmed it off. There is a lot of empty space when done vertically and I really didn’t want to deal with it. Before I stamped it though, I used a large script stamp; inked with Old Paper Distress ink and stamped the white cardstock panel. You can just barely see it but it adds some interest. I used my home-made Misti to stamp the image – over and over and over until I got it the way I wanted it. Then I filled in some of the blank areas with water colour paint. I'm not sure if orchids come in orange but if not, I'm using my artistic license! The background around the flowers is Mustard Seed Distress Ink and the blue is either Tumbled Glass or Broken China Distress ink; both sponged on. Then I used a wet paint brush with various inks and splattered the background. The sentiment is a peel-off and the ribbon is from the stash…and glad it matched! This was then mounted on white and then onto the embossed brown and then onto the card base.

That’s all for another rainy, dull day – Friday, January 20, 2017.  Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Cheers

Violet

Don’t forget you are more than welcome to save any cards to your Pinterest account for future reference. Simply place the curser over the picture until the Pinterest save sign shows up in the top left corner and enter. This will take you to your Pinterest account. If it doesn’t work, please leave a comment and let me know so I fix it. Thanks.
