We’re having a heat-wave! Well, after all the bitter cold weather and mounds
of snow and freezing rain we’ve had, today feels like a heat-wave. It’s well
above freezing so a lot of the snow is starting to melt….but a little slower
than normal because of the ice on top of it.
I needed some thinking of you cards so here’s one
I recently made. Orange poppies are one of my favourite flowers. This image was
a free digi print from the Internet.
It was coloured with pencils and blended with
gamsol but I got a little heavy handed with the dark orange which took away a
lot of the yellow/orange but that’s okay. I still liked it. I sponged some
yellow and blue chalk around it while it was still in the Spellbinder’s long
rectangle die so it left a nice white image. All the rest of the paper is from
the stash. The butterfly is from a Memory Box die. The peel-off sentiment is on
a piece of scrap paper left over from cutting the card background. It is placed
behind that label…which started out pink. I won a set of these labels that were
all yucky colours that I knew I would never use. So, the solution was to alter
them with alcohol ink. I just kept sponging on colours until I got that nice
marbled look and quit. Now I love them and I’m glad I won them…and now I’ll use
them.
That’s all for a very snow melting mild Wednesday,
February 14, 2018….Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! We don’t buy each other
presents anymore but we did have lunch out today after walking at the arena.
Cheers
Violet
