A Golden Oldie Card

What a wonderful long weekend it was weather wise! Although the weather network kept predicting thunderstorms, they all passed us….instead they hit just a few miles from us. We could actually use a nice rain and rain and thunderstorms are predicted every day from now until Friday so we may get it yet. We enjoyed a picnic lunch at Rondeau Provincial Park Saturday and today we had one along the St. Clair River. We knew the water level was very high in the Great Lakes and surrounding rivers this year but we were shocked to discover our favourite park along the river was under water! We ended up at another park which was fine except they only had a porta-john instead of flush toilets…yuck! Oh well, so we had to rough it today but it was still lovely along the river. Joe loves the lake freighters but only two came past us today but they were ones he had not seen yet.

Today’s card is another blast from the past – a Golden Oldie stamp from Art Impression……love their stamps, especially this one.

I coloured the image with pencils and blended it with gamsol while watching television with no idea in mind of what to do with when done. The ‘happy birthday to you’ stamp was from another old stamp set but I have no idea who made it. The music notes are from yet another set. I found a card base that pretty much matched the colour of her dress. I decided to run the card base through a birthday embossing folder…something I seldom do….but I wanted a little texture on it and it just seemed to be a good idea at the time. The image was then die cut with an old Spellbinder’s die and glued on. Then the ribbon, three gems and the die cut (T.H.) sentiment were glued on.

That’s all for a hot but lovely Monday, August 5, 2019. I’ll be back on Wednesday for another card.

Cheers

Violet
