Yesterday was such a busy day I actually forgot it was Friday so I didn’t post a card. It was after 9:30 last night when I turned on my IPad and noticed the date…too late to bother firing up the big computer by that time. The weekend is going to be a lovely one and it’s a long weekend for most people. In Canada the first Monday of August is called “Civic Day”….can’t remember why…but its not a statutory holiday…sort of if you want to give your employees the day off with pay then do it, if not, don’t.
Once in awhile I bring out old stamp sets and that’s what this card is made from…a Penny Black stamp set from a few years ago….its one of their ‘slap stick’ series.
This card is the standard A2 size – 4.25 x 5.5 – but the stamp itself has one extra flower to the far right…which I cut off. When I want to make a larger card I just stamp it separately but when I want this size card, all that showed was the stem and I found it annoying…so off it went. I know some people cringe when I say I cut up my stamps but I do it quite a bit actually.
The flowers and leaves were coloured with water colour paint this time and then yellow Stickles were added. The background was white and first I added some water colour blue paint in splashes…wet the paper first and then add very diluted paint and let it flow…then I covered up the flowers and splattered on blue paint. The sentiment is a peel-off. Once it was all dry it was glued to the card base.
That’s all for a beautiful sunny Saturday, August 3, 2019.
Enjoy your weekend everyone; smile at a stranger; do a random act of kindness; and make sure you tell your loved ones that you love them.
Cheers
Violet
