The Skater Card and a Quilt

I had warned you that postings would be sporadic for awhile. During the nice weather we are outside a lot, gardening, biking, hiking and bird watching and I sometimes don’t even turn the computer on for days at a time. If you happened to vote for my card (see previous post) I thank you.

Today was a great day! My older sister had some very risky heart surgery performed and is already sitting up and out of ICU…..a wonder woman for sure!

Besides that it was our youngest grandson’s 11th birthday today. This is the card I made for him and following that is the gift I made for him.

The skater was made using an old Sizzix die - lots of little pieces but rather fun to put together providing you like puzzles. Each piece has ink sponged around the edges to give them some dimension - even that little pocket on his shorts. Once I had the skater finished it was “now what?”…and “How do I finish this card?” So, I just went for it with no plan. The background sky was sponged on a piece of white cardstock that was cut to 4 x 5.25. Then a piece of beige paper was ripped to look like hills and green ink was sponged along the top and here and there to make it look more hilly. Then another piece was heavy inked for the foreground. It needed more so I die cut some trees and added them to the background and die cut some grass for the foreground. Before gluing the green piece down I stamped the sentiment with black ink. Once I liked the background I glued the skater down. And then it was all glued to a black card base.

And here’s the gift I made!

He loves trains, especially steam trains, and has since he was a baby. The panel is the same design as the quilt I made for my hubby who also loves trains….scroll down to see it… but the rest of it is entirely different. He loved it.

That’s all for a very cool Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Cheers

Violet
