Bellafrific Friday December 9

What a fun day we had yesterday! We did something very different for us. We went on a bus trip to Casino Windsor. We are definitely not casino people but the bus trip itself cost next to nothing and it included tickets to see an Elvis impersonator, (I'm a HUGE Elvis fan) plus they gave us each a $10 voucher for gambling, or to cash in for food. There was 6 buses of people leaving from Chatham and it turned out there was 41 buses there altogether – busy day! Some people took their own lunch, some went to the small restaurants and some of us opted for the buffet. We are not big eaters and probably don’t need to go to a buffet but because we don’t eat meat, the options at the restaurants there were pretty limited. The buffet was awesome!

So, we ate, we strolled thru the casino, we saw the show, and we played the slots for about 15 minutes. I lost .50, Joe lost $1.50 and we cashed in our tickets and left the slots for others. 15 minutes of that was enough. Push the button and watch it spin til it stops, push the button and watch it spin til it stops, push the button and watch it spin til it stops…..boring….and watch your money go down the drain! (OK pennies for us as we were on the 1cent machines, but still it’s money gone). We are just not gamblers and we can’t understand why people get addicted to these slot machines but it happens. We ended up getting a coffe and just strolling thru the casino watching other people play until it was time to catch the bus home.

I guess the only thing I didn’t like was the crowd leaving the show. It holds 5,000 people and it was pretty much sold out. I’m severely claustrophobic and at one point I thought I’d have to make a run for it but I calmed myself down so I didn’t have to embarrass us by being the crazed wild women pushing thru the crowds hyper-ventilating all the way thru – don’t laugh, it’s happened before!

So, that was yesterday. Today is Bellarific Friday day. This week’s challenge was to make an all white card. The only thing that was not to be white was the stamped image itself. Of course, you have to use one of Stampin’ Bella’s stamps. This was a challenge for me because I mostly have images of people, dogs and a rabbit. But I did find one of their stamps that worked. Here it is.

I first stamped the ornament in black but I did not like it at all. Too stark. So I stamped it again in gold and embossed it. Much better. Then I added in liquid pearls to the ornament itself just to give it some dimension and to make it pop a bit from the background. I added some ribbon along the edges and a poinsettia with a white rose in the middle and then it was all mounted on a piece of white cardstock that I had run thru the Cuttlebug with a snowflake embossing folder. I actually quite like it and I may make some more but I might add a stamped sentiment on the ribbon.
