Dream - Mixed Media on 4"x4" canvas & framed hearts

Today has been a very busy day. First we did some errands and got groceries in the morning and then right after lunch I started cooking. Time to fill the freezer for snacks and quick meals when we come home from bird watching. So, now in the freezer we have chocolate chip cookies for Joe, (I know I'm weird but I just don't like chocolate much), a pan of eggplant parmesan and a pan of lasagna and a big bowl of old fashioned rice pudding. House smells good but the kitchen is a little warm. While I was cooking Joe cut the grass. We are ready to bird watch!

A few months ago I picked up 2  4"x4" canvases with deep sides and this week I decided it was time to use them. This is the first one I created.

This is typical of mixed media on canvas - layers of spray inks, gesso, paper, stencils, acrylic paint and who knows what else. The large butterfly was die cut from a Cuttlebug die set out of some paper I made myself and the sentiment was die cut from the same paper and a Cuttlebug Alphabet set. The small butterflies were downloaded from "The Graphic Fairy" blog, reduced in size to fit on this small piece. No class for this one - I just did it in the "lower studio" and I just designed it as I went...no planning at all.

I've started on the other canvas but it takes days to make these so its still in beginning stage.

If you are familiar with my blog you will recall the "Three Hearts" piece I did a couple of weeks ago at a class at the Paper Pickle. I wasn't going to frame it but last week I was wandering thru the thrift store and saw a brand new frame, still in original packaging, for only $3.99. OK, I can afford to frame it for that so I did. It looks so much better framed. Here it is.
