This week’s challenge at Stamping Bella was to make a card
following her sketch, and using one of her stamps of course. I checked out www.alwaysplayingwithpaper.blogspot.ca
and their weekly challenge is to make a Christmas card (standard rule) but to
use an animal; then I checked out this blog challenge: http://abcchristmaschallenge.blogspot.co.uk
and wants a Christmas card with brown in it. So, to enter all of them this is
what I came up with.
I chose this Stamping Bella stamp and coloured it with
Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I sponged Old Paper Distress Ink around the
edges. Her sketch had a rectangle instead of a square but this stamp just didn’t
suit a rectangle so I had to change it. The green fancy square is from
Spellbinder die set. One cat is brown so that is for one challenge and the
background paper is light brown with gold swirls through it. It didn’t
photograph very well but it is very pretty in real life. The green strip is
from the same paper as the fancy square and I ran it through the Cuttlebug snowflake
embossing folder and hit the top of the embossed areas with gold ink. Then I
did the same with the embossed bit on the fancy square, which are not showing
up well in the photo either. I added some gold lines from a peel-and-stick
sheet to the edges of the green strip (left over bits, they don’t go all the
way across which would be wasteful). The sketch also called for three
embellishments down the right side, starting at the top. I punched out three
snowflakes from the same green paper and die cut three from gold glitter paper
(it wouldn’t punch so I had to use a Spellbinder snowflake die for it). Then I
staggered them on top of each other glued them on and added a gold gem.
The inside of the card was stamped with a sentiment that
came with this stamp and it says: We wish you a meowy Christmas and a Happy New
Year. All three of my daughters have cats (I don’t like cats in the house so I
don’t have one) but my daughter’s best friend really loves cats. She was thrilled when she received a blind cat from a shelter for Christmas. She was at our
house so much as a teenager I started telling people I had 3 ½ daughters…I had
to share her with her mother so I only had her half the time! She still calls me
Mom2. This card is for her!
Time to watch the Canadian Olympic hockey team play now! Go Canada !!!
Cheers
