Fall Clean-up and a Leaf Card

Tired! So tired! Yesterday I had such a good day and then the rain had to come back so I had a pretty restless night. We had decided that today was going to have to be fall clean-up day because the weather is turning very fall-like with lots of rain starting tomorrow. So, I put on my big girl pants and braved it out. I love planting the flowers and mucking about in the garden all summer but when fall comes and I have to start cutting back roses (we have 25 right now), pulling out dead annuals and digging up bulbs, I wish I could hire someone. Man, am I tired! I feel like such a suck for being tired because my sister who is 9 years older then me, which means she's about to turn 72, has a garden that is like the Royal Botanical Garden. Her garden is always a huge hit when she's on the garden tour, which is most years...and she does all by herself. When she was recovering from bowel cancer and chemo and was told to take it easy, she said she was - she was only working in the garden four - six hours a day - and couldn't understand why her kids and the doctor didn't understand that that was taking it easy for her. I guess I'm just plain out of shape in spite of all the hiking and biking we did this summer.

But, I did have a good day yesterday and went to the Pampered Stamper's class and this is the card we made.

Love this card! The leaves turn out looking very life-like done this way. In fact, Jackie said one person called her about the class and wondered if she was using real leaves! The background was run thru an embossing folder and then inked. We stamped a saying on velum and then punched it out. Some baker's twin and a button finished it off. Love it! I liked the cardstock so much that I bought some sheets of it for future cards.  Jackie is a Stampin' Up rep so all colours and punches etc are from them.

  1. The hiking and biking are wonderful for cardio but they are probably doing nothing that would help you in the gardening department...lol...you could try adding some workouts with some light weights...even veggie or soup cans are a great place to start..they are one pound each....Hugs! deb
