What a whirlwind of a weekend. This past weekend was our Canadian Thanksgiving and I certainly have a lot to be thankful for. We had our youngest daughter and her two boys come on Saturday (her hubby is working in Kuwait for 4 months and they miss him terribly) and we had supper and visited and the boys tried on their Halloween costumes - yes, I got the shark suit done. They loved them. Sunday was a little quiet, just Joe and I but on Monday we left to visit the middle daughter and her hubby and son and had a great time. We all went to a pumpkin farm and had a ball - cool and windy, but fun. On Tuesday we decided to head out to the RBG (Royal Botanical Gardens) and walk the trails. We figured a 30 or 45 minute walk and then head for home. Well, a couple of fellows were leaving as we entered and they gave us a bag full of seeds and said to put them on our hands and the birds would eat them out of our hands. Of course, I had my camera ready and here's what happened. Oh, and by the way, the 30 minute walk turned into a three hour walk!
There is a little bird on my hand - trust me!
Joe had several come to him at once.
Looking over the seeds?
So much fun!
I also got some very nice pictures of birds and the scenery around the RBG.
Black-capped Chickadee
Female Northern Cardinal
We saw this heron flying overhead. Not a great shot as it was up very high.
About an hour later we saw it across the pond.
White-breasted Nuthatch
White-crowned Sparrow.
Joe by a old uprooted tree trunk.
One of the many beautiful scenes at the RBG. The fall colours are just starting.
