Holly in a Jar

End of May already???? How did that happen so quickly. The temperature today in Ontario is 27C or almost 81F but with the humidex it feels more like 91F. Hot, hot, hot with yet another chance of a thunderstorm today and tomorrow. We have been trying to arrange a BBQ picnic with two the daughters and their families and the weather has not co-operated at all and it's difficult enough with 3 families in 3 different cities and one has the house up for sale. Maybe next weekend.

This week's challenge at Stamping Bella was to make a card with one of her stamps using the provided sketch. Well, I had won some of her stamps last winter and haven't used them all so I stamped the Holly in a Jar one and coloured it with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

The sketch was pretty simple but it was to be square. A lot of my stamps do not fit the square designed cards but this one did. The squares were die cut using my new Spellbinder die set - LOVE IT! So many possibilities with it. See the shimmer in the vase that looks wet - its not. I like to put a bit of Glossy Accents on anything that is suppose to be wet and it keeps the wet look even when it dries. For water, I sort of bounce the paint brush up and down so it's not an even coat and it really looks like it's wet. The only thing I changed on the sketch was I added the sentiment (peel-and-stick) and the gold border and strip along the side. Those two came from Paper Wishes. One more Christmas card done!

Saturday is approaching fast. Wishing everyone a happy and safe weekend.
