Happy Holidays Skater

Another Friday! I don't know about you but the weeks seem to be flying by. I spent the better part of this day with a friend who lost her husband in April and needed some "girlfriend time". We didn't do much but had a good time together sorting out quilt blocks for more charity quilts and talking about fabric and quilts, etc. Then we headed out to Michael's. I had a coupon that said 25% off your entire order including sale items. I had my eye on a few things so today was the day to go get them. But, as usual, Michael's always has some "invisible fine print" rules so the items I wanted were on "clearance" not on "sale" so therefore there was no discount. Excuse me? An item on clearance is definitely on sale. "No, sorry no discount." Well guess what "no discount = no sale"! I left it all on the counter and walked out. They lost a $65 order.  Grrrr. Michaels makes me so mad.

After lunch out at Tim Horton's we went back to her house and sorted more quilt blocks. We both make charity quilts so we always have fabric to sort and sew. Then we called another quilter who had more fabric for us and we went to her house. When I got home with another huge box of fabric Joe just rolled his eyes but, once again, I'm used to seeing that and have long ago learned to ignore it.

But, even though I love quilting, I also love card making and scrapbooking. Today's card is one I made for Stamping Bella's challenge. I won $20 again last week from there. I decided to make this one a Christmas card and I will enter it into the Merry Monday challenge as well.

I used the sketch provided by Stamping Bella along with some bright blue paper. The Stamping Bella image is coloured with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol and the circles are Spellbinders. The white snowflake is a Spellbinder's snowflake die and then I added the dark, blue metal one on top. I like this image a lot because its not only for Christmas. I coloured in pink and yellow one time and made a birthday card for a little girl's birthday in the winter and no one thought it was the least bit Christmasy.

Another weekend coming up. Make it a good one!

Cheers

Violet

  1. Lovely card Violet! I love how the diagonal lines across the card help give the impression of movement..like she's really skating!

Michael's ads drive me crazy too. and even Hobby Lobby... You get a 40 or 50 % off coupon good for anything but sale items but sometimes its hard to find something thats not 'on sale' .. i think they do that on purpose! darn it!

Congrats! On winning $20!!! Wow! Thats awesome!! Hugs! deb
