This week Stamping Bella provided a sketch to follow to make
a card. Now, if you read my blog on a regular basis you will know that I’m not
much of a sketch kinda gal….I like to think of myself as a “free spirit” which
cracks Joe up every time I say it! But it’s true! I just like to create as a I
go; but, once in awhile , for a challenge, I have to follow the rules. So, here’s
my card – actually cards. I made two using the same sketch – now that’s a
first!
I had this image stamped twice so I thought I may as well colour
them both up at once – Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. When I got that done I
thought I may as well make two cards too. The card base is from an old package
of card bases only, no envelopes, that I picked up on sale at the Paper Pickle.
The designer paper is from the stash. I used an extra card base to die cut the
scallop edge using a Sizzix die, and then I embossed it with the Cuttlebug snowflake
embossing folder. Then I lightly ran a white ink pad over the top to hi-lite
the snowflakes. The gold strip down the edge of the scallop is a
peel-and-stick. It needed some bling so pearls were stuck on. The snow on the
image was made using Liquid Pearls by Ranger. The trees have yellow jewels on
them. It turned out okay.
For the next card I added the image to a left-over piece of
the previous card’s red base, and die cut another scallop. But I had a piece of
very shiny silver bling paper staring at me so I die cut it too and mounted it
on top of the silver. Not bad. A wide strip of silver peel-and-stick was added
to the edge before I glued down the mounted image. The card base is from the same package as the red card above but the green has a holly watermark on it...very pretty. It’s okay but I like the
other card best so that is the one I submitted to Stamping Bella for the
challenge. But, my name wasn't drawn this week so no Bella bucks. Too bad because she is releasing new stamps that look great.
Have a great weekend everyone
Cheers
