Old Bicycles and Gears

Today the temperature is in the 50’sF again but tonight it will drop about 30º. I wish it stay above seasonal temperatures or at least just get cold and stay cold so I’d have fewer attacks from the brain disorders (trigeminal neuralgia and hemi-facial paralyses in case you are wondering). I thought for sure last night I was on a recovery path and I’d be back at Aqua Fit this morning – didn’t happen. Maybe tomorrow. Oh well, no use worrying about it. This too shall pass. I just keep remembering my motto, ‘Every day this side of the dirt is a good one.”

Yesterday I posted a card with the focal image of an old bicycle die cut from a Memory Box die. Here is today’s card using the negative space of that die cut.
I picked up this piece of red paper with the bicycle cut out of it and just could not throw it away. I’m just a tiny bit frugal!!! So, trimmed it down to fit on a card, placed some paper behind it that looked like a map behind the opening and glued it in place. Then I die cut another black bicycle and glued it in where the red one was cut from. This was then mounted on black cardstock and then on a piece of dark grey paper with a white core that I ran thru the Tim Holtz gears embossing folder and sanded off the top of some of them.

Three black dew drops were added to the black strip on the top left and another gear made from one of my altered papers on the bottom strip. The sentiment was stamped with white ink on the black. The brass rivets on the bike are from Paper Wishes – they are just peel-and-stick.

Well, I’m glad Joe got the furnace fixed and now we don’t have to worry about it conking out now that it is turning colder. It was one of those 50/50 situations where the part may last for 2 hours or 2 or 3 years. We opted to get it replaced now. We can survive without A/C in the summer but not heat in the winter. Why take a chance when you know it’s going to have to be replaced eventually – and with our luck, sooner rather than later.

Cheers

Violet

  1. I really like the map-like background paper on this one. Really makes the bicycle stand out!
