A Sympathy Card from the Frozen North

We had an unusual number of robins that did not fly south this year. When I kept seeing them in November and early December I said to Joe, “I wonder if this means it’s going to be a mild winter.” If they thought that they would be wrong! I bet they are sorry now they didn’t make the trip. Bittter cold again today. I haven’t been out of the house since last Friday and we are expecting more snow, lots more, tomorrow so who knows when I’ll breathe fresh air again. Joe kindly offered to go to the library for me this afternoon to get more books for me....and I let him. Such a nice guy I married.

The Don’t Bug Me quilt top is done except for the borders….and I don’t have anything in the stash to use so it will be off to R. B. Fabrics once I leave the house. However, I had some blocks made for a Rocky Road to Kansas quilt so I decided to pull them out and put it together. You need four small blocks to make up one large block. They’ve been sitting half made for about 4 years. I got the blocks put together and laid them out on the floor only to find out I was one large block short! Aaaaggggggg. Maybe that's why I never finished it four years ago. I cannot find any more of the background fabric in my stash so I’m not sure what to do about it. I guess I can either make a smaller quilt and have some blocks left over or I have one block that’s different from the rest. Not sure yet what to do. I know I’ll never find that fabric again at the store either. Some days I just can’t win.

But I do like today’s card. This is another Inkadinkado stamp.

For this card I sponged one various colours of distress inks, huffed on it and stamped the image on white cardstock. Then I used my stencil brush to pounce on some light blue. You will see this background paper in several of the cards I will be posting. Once I cut into a 12x12 sheet of paper I want to use it all up instead of adding bits to the stash. It’s sort of my new resolution! The card base was made from some cardstock that just happened to match the swirls in the paper. I wanted the image to pop so I found some brighter cardstock and die cut the frame using two Spellbinder dies. The label is also from Spellbinders. The sentiment is a gold peel-and-stick and I added three gold gems to the butterfly body.
