Sidewalks, city sidewalks
Filled with brown slushy snowAnd the sidewalks are cleared
So the walking is slow.
And in the air there’s a feeling of
UTTER FRUSTRATION!!!
Yup, that’s my winter version of Silver Bells. It got above freezing
today so everything really is a mess. The snow is brown and slushy and in some places
there is a layer of ice underneath of it so it makes walking very treacherous. In
some cases, between the drifting snow and the snowplough,s there are such huge
piles of snow they block the sidewalks and you have climb over them or walk on
the street. We decided today though that we just had to get out of the house and
walk downtown and back. We live near the edge of town but we can walk to the downtown
mall, walk around the mall, over to the library, and back home within about an hour
and a half on a good day. Today we left at 10:30 and by noon we had been to the
library and were at the mall. Yeah, tough going for sure. What a workout. We decided
to have lunch downtown and give our legs a rest. And the forecast for the weekend
– snow flurries, rain and freezing rain off and on all weekend. Lovely!
Today’s card is the last card I made for the Stamping Bella challenge. She chose to only post the
Monster Bash card I posted yesterday though. This card was made using the same
yellow pink combination but I made it into a wedding card.
Please ignore the background bit. I didn’t realize the
envelope was sticking out behind it when I took the picture. It was still
freezing cold in the lower studio and I was in a hurry. It looks darker too so I guess I didn't have the Ott light right on it. However, I think the little 3-D embellishment really set it off and it picked up the pink in the coloured image.
And that is it for another week. Sometimes when we would
leave my grandmother’s house and we would say, “See you later Grandma” she
would reply, “Yup, if God be willing and the crick don’t rise”. I remember
asking my mother what in the world was a crick? (I knew the God bit). She told
me that a “crick” was another word for “creek”, which is a small river. So why
not just say creek. Why have two words that mean the same thing? Yes, I was one
of those kids that ask “WHY” all the time. Hubby would tell you I haven’t
changed much!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
Cheers
Violet
My daughter was born just before Christmas and they were filtering in Christmas music in the delivery room. The doctor and the nurses were all singing Silver Bells along with the music as my daughter came into the world! :) Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card - I love the cake! Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog. You are very welcome to the quote. I only started art journaling last year and I am hooked! But I still like to make cards and do scrapbooking.
