Tulips and Cold Wind

I have an oxymoron in my garden. The tulips are blooming and yet the temperature feels like early March. If the tulips are blooming, it should be warm people! Everyone seems to be so annoyed with this cold wind that keeps blowing and that includes us. I’m house bound today and decided to finish up a couple of scrapbook pages and make a couple cards for the weekly challenges I try to follow. However, my scrapbook page is taking longer then it should because I keep trying different techniques. Oh well, good job my time is my own and I don’t get paid by the hour.

Today’s card is a little different but I like it.

I had die cut this plum coloured cardstock with a Spellbinder’s fancy square die to use in another project and the left over bit was still sitting on my desk. I looked at it and thought, “This would make a nice frame.”  So I placed it on top of the light pink that has little white flowers on it and it looked just fine. The card base was covered with a co-ordinating pink paper with diamonds instead of flowers. These were both from an old, old paper pack. The edges of the card base were inked with some plum coloured ink. The poppies were die cut with a Memory Box die out of the green cardstock; but then I placed the negative image over the pink paper and lightly sponged some Distress Ink, Antique Linen I think, through it. This acted like a stencil and it left a lovely shadow of the poppies when they were glued on. The sentiment and gold lines are stickers.

That’s all for a cold Wednesday!

Cheers

Violet

  1. What a great idea to use the negative image as a stencil! Lovely card.
