A Purple Christmas Card?

Even though it was drizzling rain early this morning I decided I just had to get out of the house for a bit. Other than a trip to the doctor’s last week, I haven’t left the house for over two weeks. So, we set out to run some errands, the usual; library; took egg cartons to the food bank; had to pick up my ring at the jewellers; groceries and done! Oh was I done! Man, no exercise and being sick sure took the stamina away from me. We opted to have a quick lunch at Tim Horton’s before going home so I wouldn’t have to cook. We enjoy their soup so it was an easy yes from me to go there. I did pop next door to Michaels to get some quilting pins but they were too expensive without a coupon and this Michaels will not give you a coupon once you are in the store. They handed me their latest flyer with “VOID” written over the coupon – bye Michaels, you are too expensive without a coupon.

I did take the time yesterday to finish up four Christmas cards that were in various stages of being finished. Yesterday I posted one for a great niece who loves pink. Her twin sister loves purple so I made this card for her.

A purple Christmas card? Sure why not! This is another Magnolia image coloured with Prismacolor pencils, blended with gamsol. The blue and brown are chalk. Glitter is on the hat rim, end of hat and petticoat and then I brushed a coat of mica powder over the dress and hat. The mica powder is actually a jar of silver or white eye shadow from the Dollar Tree. First run a Versamark pen over the area and then dab on the mica. It gives a lovely shimmer to the area. The snowflake was die cut with a Spellbinder’s die and then I added the iridescent glitter and a large purple gem. A tiny bow and ribbon was added before I glued the image on. The oval and scalloped oval are Spellbinder’s dies. The purple background paper came from the stash and just happened to match the purple on her dress. The oval scallop is the same paper but I inked the edges with darker purple ink. The paper came with the embossed dots.

That’s all for a Tuesday,

Cheers
Violet
