A Rare Flycatcher in Ontario

For some odd reason, this didn't post on Sunday like I thought it did. Hope it does so this time.

This morning a birding friend called me to make sure I knew about the rare Vermilion Flycatcher from Texas who ended up in Wallaceburg – a town less than a half an hour from here. I did know about it but I have been under the attack from the brain disorders for the last several days and haven’t felt like doing much of anything. However, we decided this was a perfect time to get out of the house for awhile so off we went. This is probably the last time in our life that we will see this bird as we have no intention of ever going to Texas…..well, Joe doesn’t and he’s the driver! Here are four of my favourite photos of him – it’s an immature male.

We have had such mild weather up until this week that my garden is very confused. When we came home from seeing the bird I went around to the side of the house and snapped these two photos – the miniature rose bush and the orange daisy-like flowers bloomed lately but they won’t last long now.

Our grass is as green as it is in July too. There will be no white Christmas where I live.
Cheers
Violet
