Cards and Flowers

It was an absolutely lovely day here again today but it looks like the rain is moving in….nothing like Texas is getting mind you, thank goodness. It was another busy day for us. My morning was taken up by having my annual mammogram…..at least I hope it was good for another year and nothing suspicious showed up like last year…but at least that one was benign. This afternoon we went to my sister’s and put together a couple of cabinets for her….two down, two to go. It went okay but we did have a couple of ‘oh oh’s’ and as Joe calls them, “Laurel and Hardy moments”. We just laughed our way through it and then enjoyed a pizza with her too.

First I’ll post a card and then I’ll post some photos of my garden for those of you who enjoy flowers.

I did have time to make a couple cards last week and here is one of them. My friend Jane really liked this one when she came for a visit so I thought I would post it first. The image was a free digital download.

The image was quickly coloured with Prismacolor pencils with chalk sponged around the edges. Not much colouring required on this one. It and the green mat behind it were die cut with a Spellbinder’s circle die. The paper on the right was left over from two other cards that I made that have not been posted yet but there was not too much of the white flowers left showing. So I took a leaf stem stamp, rubbed white acrylic paint on it and stamped some on the polka dot green paper……and then I washed the stamp using a toothbrush under water to make sure all the paint was off. The stamp must be washed immediately if using paint or you will never get it off. The paper on the left is actually greener than the photo shows and it was taped together at the back and then a white strip of a peel-off (Dazzle from Paper Wishes) was put down the seam. The banner was hand cut first in green and then white. The green banner, the circle mat and the tiny bow (from a Little B die) were from the same cardstock as the card base – Stampin’ Up. The sentiment was also a peel-off.

And here is a sample of some of the flowers in my garden. This is only a bit of garden mind you but the rest is not in full bloom yet so stay tuned for more in July and August.

Our back fence. I had just planted the hanging pots.

A bit of a longer view.

My roses are blooming.

This iris is actually more peach coloured than it looks here.

One of my favourite roses - the Abraham Lincoln.

One row of peonies.

My mauve iris.

Close up of the mauve iris.

My sister gave me this iris last year from her garden because she was moving.....lucky me! I've never seen one this colour before.

Close up of the orange iris.

Two toned purple iris which I think came from my sister too.

And that’s all for a lovely June day,

Cheers

Violet
