Pansies on a Card

This was a busy day! I’ve been asked to make another quilt for the Friends of Rondeau Park’s raffle and I really wanted a panel with deer on it for the centre of the quilt. The first three local quilt shops, or at least close to local shops, I contacted did not have what I wanted but the one in Dresden did (about half an hour’s drive away) so my ever-so supportive husband said, “Let’s drive to Dresden and get your panel and have lunch out too”. We decided to call my sister to see if she wanted to go too – widow and lives alone – and she was all for it too. They had some fabric for the back and borders that matched but I was wavering wondering if I could find some on sale someplace when Joe said, “Just get it. It matches perfectly.” While I was getting the pieces cut, Joe is wandering around and finds some fabric with covered bridges on it which he knows I love and strongly suggested that I should make us a quilt from it….and then I noticed the each covered bridge had a barn quilt on it…..that sealed the deal…..yup, another project to do. The lady at the quilt shop laughed and said, “Most husbands try to talk their wives out of buying more and he’s doing the opposite!” That’s my Joe!

I’ve also been trying to organize my crafting supplies so when we got back to the city we did a few errands. We went to Staples and I bought a half-binder – 8.5 x 5.5 and some top loading plastic inserts. I think they will work out well but I think I need about 3 or 4 more of them!!!

Okay, now on the card I’m posting! This is another free flower design I down-loaded from the Internet.

I love pansies! These were once more coloured with Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol. I don’t have any banner dies so I had to hand cut some. The image is on white cardstock and was layered on a dark blue banner and then onto a light blue banner and then onto the dark blue cardstock card base. Then I added silver peel-off strips around the edges and a silver fancy border piece at the top. You probably cannot see it in the photo but there are tiny silver peel-off dots all around the flowers. These are the left-over bits from other peel-off pieces and they just added that little bit of extra to the design.

That’s all for a cool but sunny Friday, January 13, 2017. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Cheers

Violet
