Wow,
it finally felt like a bit of spring today. The wind was still cold but the sun
was shining and we spent 2 ½ hours wandering through a bush this afternoon and
got some nice bird photos. I’ll post them first, and then the card so if you
don’t like bird photos, sorry, just scroll down fast to see the card.
Lots of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers today.
Our first warbler of the season - Yellow-rumped warbler
Flycatcher
I finally got some good shots of the Golden-crowned Kinglet.
They seldom sit still so they are hard to photograph.
We saw our first butterfly today too.
The Mourning Cloak over-winters in Ontario.
From the look of his wings, he had a rough winter too.
The brown creepers are also very hard to photograph because they don't sit still. They climb quickly up the side of trees.
A thrush. Not sure which one.
And now for the card. This
card is one that little girls seem to like. It’s an old release from Stamping
Bella so I have no idea if it is still on her website or not.
The
image was coloured with pencils and blended with gamsol. Then I cut it out
because there was an ink smudge too near the image to cover up….hate it when
that happens. So, once I had it cut out, then I had to decide how to mount it
on a card. I decided to keep it simple and used a sheet from a 6” birthday
pack, cut down to 5 ½” to cover a square card base. I obviously could not cut
out those small lines like her hair, the cherry stem and string from her jacket
so I stamped the image where I wanted to put the cut-out image and then glued
it right over the stamped image. Problem solved. The sentiment was die cut
twice using white cardstock…Sizzix dies. Then one was sponged with pink ink and
then glued on top of, but slightly off, the white one to give it a shadow. I
tried black letters on the bottom but didn’t like it. I added the gem for the
dot of the (i) added a few to the cake.
That’s all for a sunny but cool Friday,
April 20, 2018. Have a wonderful and creative weekend everyone and I’ll be back
on Monday with another post.
Cheers
Violet
