A Butterfly Card on a Dreary Day

It’s Wednesday already! It’s still milder than normal here and that suits me just fine. Unfortunately it’s also overcast and dreary and I wish the sun would shine a little more often.
Today’s card is one that came about by experimenting. I’m still trying to use up the stash of left over paper whenever I can. I found this purple card base and some left over matching cardstock in the stash and decided to use them up. The polka dot paper was also in the stash and just happened to match perfectly. Okay what to do it all? I was flipping through my binder of peel-offs and found the sheet with butterflies and decided one of those would fit perfectly on that die cut shape. So it was adhered but it looked blah so those little gold dots were added – these are the left over bits from other peel-offs…..they come in so handy. Then a piece of the same wine cardstock was cut to fit the bottom of the card and gold strips added along the top and bottom and a gold sentiment added. Done and I liked it!

Yesterday I decided to stop in at Value Village. I haven’t been there in weeks but it was senior’s day and everything was 30% off for seniors so I stopped in – sometimes I don’t mind being a senior! The first thing I saw was three 6” new stencils clipped together, two I know I will use and third one maybe. All three were $2.99 less the 30% so I took them. I didn’t see much of anything else until my eye caught a large bag of paper. At first I dismissed even looking at because the top paper looked like brown Kraft paper that the kids scribble on. However, on second look, there was a very nice 8”x 11” thick paper pad inside as well. Then I ran my finger along the edge of the paper and there were some very nice paper under the brown. Now, did I need more paper? Absolutely not! I’m about one paper pack away from being on hoarders. But sometimes ‘need’ is just an ugly four letter word. Want is so much nicer. The entire bag was $3.99, less 30% so it came home with me. Oh what a find. The nice paper turned out to be an entire paper pack – about ¾” thick and beautiful paper….and that paper pack, although a different manufacturer, match the small paper pack as well. Bonus. I lead a very quiet life, because this was the hi-lite of the week!
That’s all for a dreary Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
Cheers
Violet
