A New Technique

This week has been a mixture of partly sunny days and rainy days…and now the rain will continue for days ahead.
Today’s card was a real experiment for me and it turned out okay…could be better, but okay.

One of the new stamping methods right now is the turnabout stamping. Of course you have to buy the template and matching stamps to do so. Jennifer McGuire has a great tutorial on this if you want to watch it to see what I mean. However, I’m not buying the products needed for this. Another YouTuber, Natasha Foote, showed a method of doing this without the template…not sure if she came up with it or borrowed it from another tuber though. You could do this with a square as well but you would only get four images so I opted for the hexi.
So, I die cut a very large hexagon and chose a sold flower stamp to be the focal image. You start by placing the corner of template somewhere on your stamp positioner unit – I use the Tim Holtz one but they all would work – and I think I chose number 6…doesn’t matter, just remember which one you use. Place one corner of the white hexagon at your number; line up your stamp where you want it; close the door to pick up the stamp; ink and stamp. Rotate the white hexagon; place the next corner at your number; ink up your stamp and stamp again. NEVER MOVE YOUR STAMP, just rotate the hexagon. Stamp each point. Remove your flower stamp and pick a smaller one or leaf stamp and repeat. Once I liked it, I stamped a few tiny branches and dots to fill it in. Then I cut a larger hexagon for the base and added the blue bow. It was then glued to a piece of very light blue cardstock and then onto the card base which is 5 1/2". Not a quick card to make but fun to do.
That’s all for Friday, March 27, 2020. This terrible virus lives on. Please self-isolate yourself to stay safe.
Cheers
Violet
