Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian readers. We are
staying home and celebrating together – no travelling to family this year. I
have much to be thankful for and I’ll be most thankful when they find a vaccine
for this pandemic.
Today’s I’m posting another ‘possible’ birthday card for our
grandson who is turning 16 soon plus the card that hubby actually picked for
him.
He liked this one but didn’t pick it.
This is a tone on tone card.
Every once in a while I try to break out of my comfort zone and try something
new. First I ran this bronze coloured cardstock through an embossing folder but
then I decided it was ‘too much’. So I cut the bottom off and taped on another
piece that was not embossed. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed with
copper embossing powder….which had a bit of glitter in it. Much better but
probably could have done without the glitter. Oh well.
Then
I had no idea how to finish it. I pretty much only use sketches when entering a
card contest which I haven’t done in months so I just wing it. Finally I
decided to die cut some feathers and a die cut rope out of the same cardstock and
glued them on. Getting there. I die cut two buttons from the same cardstock;
glued them together; drew a black line across to mimic thread and then glued
them on to cover the ends of the feathers. Almost there. The bottom just needed
something else too so first I splattered on some Distress Ink but it just
soaked right in and pretty much disappeared. …you can see some very light
splatters but not much. So then I dug out some bronze metallic paint; covered
up the top of the card and splattered that over the bottom. Finally I called it
finished!
Joe
liked it but then he spotted this card and decided Jack would like it better.
I
posted the details on this card last month. You can probably figure it out as
it is pretty straight forward. That’s one of Tim Holtz’s Crazy Birds.
That’s
all for a windy Monday, October-12-20 20. We are expecting a thunderstorm
tonight but they quite often miss us…..although my brain disorders attacked me
late yesterday afternoon which usually means a storm is coming. We shall see. Take
care all and I’ll be back on Wednesday with two cards using a new stamp and die
set….there is a story there!
Cheers
Violet
