Two More Cards

The weather definitely feels like fall now. I do love the fall colours but the cold wind I could do without.

This week I’ve been posting two cards on each post and it continues today. Once again these cards are very much alike.

A friend gifted me with these 3D flower stamps and instead of putting them in the flower stash I decided to use them. Once again I found some left over pieces in the stash and pulled them out. These are finished on a standard white 5.5” square card that does not cost more to mail in Canada…and a small white border shows. For the first card I wanted gold strips down the edge of the designer paper but….poor me….my stash of gold peel-off strips is finished. I had wavy ones and other fancy lines but no straight lines left. So, I pulled out some gold shiny paper; backed it with double sided tape and cut very tiny strips using my trimmer. They were a little wider than I would have liked but still acceptable. Then the flowers were attached and gold stickles were added to the centres. A gold peel-off sentiment…which I’m also running short on…was glued to the dark cardstock along with a bit of a fancy strip. I used to buy these peel-offs from Paper Wishes but they decided to charge exorbitant shipping charges to Canada so that was the end of my purchasing from them. Some companies have reasonable shipping to Canada – like Simon Says and Art Impression – and some charge us the same as Europe….Europe, for Pete’s sake…. Crazy.

        Here’s the second card.

For this card, instead of a gold stripe down the sides, the edges were sponged with ink which was about the same colour as the dark cardstock. There was a piece of the dark cardstock left over so a stitched tag was die cut and a small peel-off sentiment added. It was attached with a strip of dimensional tape. To bring some of the gold up into the top of the card, very tiny left over circles of peel-offs were used in the flower centres and all over the dark cardstock…..it’s subtle but it does connect the card better.

That’s all for a cold fall Friday on October 16, 2020. Hope everyone has a healthy, happy and safe weekend.

 Cheers

Violet
