It was a rainy/snowy weekend and the same weather continues. Luckily the snow melts almost as soon as it hits the ground during the day but stays on the grass at night….but there has not been any more than a small snow shower so that’s good. But it sure is damp outside. Damp cold is the coldest there is. We are under a ‘stay at home’ order and although we are allowed to go for a walk for exercise, it’s too cold for me. I’ll stick to card making, scrapbooking and quilting.
This was
supposed to be posted yesterday but by the time I realized it was Monday, I was
too tired to be bothered turning the computer on. Let’s just say the posts will
not be on a regular basis in 2021. Besides the fact that I never know what day
it is, it is quite often too cold in my ‘lower studio’ which is actually the
basement where I make cards so I may not have as many to post as I usually do. We shall see.
Today’s card did not turn out quite like I
expected but it’s still okay. This is a Simon Says 6” stamp.
I stamped it on white cardstock with VersaMark ink and then
heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Then the background was sponged
with various Distress Oxide Inks. I think I only have six colours of Oxide inks
even though I do like them a lot….it gets pricey keeping everything up-to-date
so I don’t bother. Once I was happy with the blending it was cut down to 4” x 5.25”
to fit on a standard card base. The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped with VersaMark
ink onto a piece of velum and heat embossed in white. To heat emboss on velum,
get the heat gun very hot and go over a section and off; over and off; until it
melts the embossing powder but does not harm the velum. A large piece of double
sided tape was glued to the back of the velum so once the backing was removed,
the velum had adhesive evenly over it and it was easy to lay it on the embossed
design and trimmed to fit. Then it was all glued to the card base. It’s okay,
but not exactly what I wanted. I’ll definitely be using this stamp over and
over though so stay tuned.
That’s all for
Tuesday on January 21, 2021.
