The Scarlet Tanager Card

We enjoyed a pretty good weekend. Saturday I was able to get my second Covid-19 vaccine shot and Sunday we went to Rondeau Park and had a BBQ and then an almost 20km bike ride. It was a beautiful day at the park - very hot and humid in the city though so we were grateful living just a 45 minute drive from the lake. We had a couple thunderstorms come through today but that’s okay. We needed the rain.

I took some of my favourite bird photographs and turned them into cards. Here’s one of them.

This is a Scarlet Tanager - my husband’s favourite migratory bird. I wanted the bird to stay as the focal point so I picked up the other colours in the photograph for the embellishments and mats. It was matted on that green cardstock that was so close in colour to the leaves in the photo it was uncanny and then onto a mottled bluish-grey card base. Before gluing the photo to the first mat I took a two-toned ribbon; added double sided tape to it and wrapped it around the photo; stuck it down and tied a bow; let the other end switch colours and cut the end at an angle and added a glue dot under the cut edge to hold it in place. The sentiment is a silver peel-off.

That’s all for a cooler day that we’ve had for several days on Monday, June 14, 2021.

 Cheers

Violet
