We are experiencing a very long heat wave here in Ontario. It has been hotter here than in Houston Texas! With the humidity added in, it has felt like over 100F all week – and it will continue for several more days yet. Fortunately, we have A/C and we have stayed indoors – but I’d rather be out biking or hiking.
I did get some
cards made though. Here is one of them.
The background started out as white
cardstock. First several colours of Distress Inks were sponged on leaving one
area a little lighter….. and then it was flecked with water to make that beautiful
blotchy look. A round piece of plastic that was die cut was placed where I
wanted the sun to be, and then darker ink was flicked out from the edge of the
circle to define the sun. A bit of extra water was put in the circle and then
lifted off with a towed to lighten it even more.
Then I started
stamping. The poppy was the focal image, so it was stamped in black with the
flower head part way into the sun area. It was coloured with water colour
markers with dark Stickles added in the centre. The other wildflowers are from
a variety of sets and they were stamped in various shades of orange – Rusty Hinge
I think for the dark ones and a few in green.
The sentiment
was stamped and embossed in white on a die cut fish tale banner. The entire
card was mounted on black cardstock and then onto a white card base. I really
liked how this one turned out.
That’s all for
a sizzling hot and humid Wednesday on August 24, 2021.
