It’s just around the freezing mark here today which means we could get some freezing rain overnight…or snow…or rain…who knows! It’s Ontario in February, be prepared for anything.
Last week I posted a card that had a lattice die cut. Today I’m posting what I did to use up the little decorative bits that normally would be thrown away.
Now this card started out to be a sympathy card. The flowers were originally coloured in very light colours but when I put them on the card, they were so blah looking I hated them. So the first thing I did was to use some markers to re-colour them. I also added some Wink of Stella.
The background is two pieces of left over cardstock taped together at the back and then glued to a card base. Then I thought, dang I forgot to add a ribbon down the seam and I do like to wrap the ribbons around to the back. Well, too late for that. I laid the flowers down where I wanted them but they needed something to go around them to fill in the empty spaces and hide the bit of seam that showed.
The inside bits from the lattice die were still sitting on my desk and I thought they looked a bit like flowers so I took a sponge and sponged on some dark pink ink. I glued the newly coloured flowers on and then started adding in those little bits. They are various shades of pink and filled up the bare spots just fine.
Then I decided this was too bright and cheerful for a sympathy card so I die cut a tag from the same deep pink/burgundy as the far right panel and added a gold birthday peel-off and called it done.
That’s all for a mild but damp Monday, on February 8, 2022.
Cheers
Violet
