We were definitely snowed in today! A huge storm past through starting with rain, then freezing rain and ice pellets and then snow….and more snow….and more snow! And, it turned very cold again. February is a terrible weather month.
I decided to take a break from quilting and make cards for a couple of days. I need some sympathy cards and started making them. But then…..While looking for a particular flower embossing folder I pulled out a feather one. As I pulled out this feather embossing folder I thought to myself, “I wonder how this would look if I ran VersaMark over the top, embossed a piece of black cardstock in it and dropped Perfect Pearls on it?” Once I had that thought, I pushed the current project to one side and tried it. I’m obviously easily distracted by a new project before finishing the current one! Here’s how it turned out.
It did not turn out as I expected because I wasn’t careful enough spreading around the Perfect Pearls - they sort of blended a bit too much when I added the metallic copper one. But I still liked it. But I had no idea how to finish it. Finally I pulled out my feather stamps and dies and decided to just die cut some from water colour paper that I had dipped in various Distress inks and had sitting waiting to be used. The circle was left over from another project - no, I don’t throw out anything - so I glued it on first, then tied the feathers with a blue embroidery floss and glued them on. Then the tiny feathers were glued on as if they were falling. Even though it turned out darker than I wanted, I rather liked it and I may try this again but will leave out the dark metallic colours.
That’s it for another week….one week closer to spring! Have a wonderful, safe and creative weekend everyone.
Cheers
Violet
