Wolf Card Number One

It was a lovely day today so we headed out to Rondeau Provincial Park with the bikes and did 21.52km this afternoon. First we enjoyed a veggie burger and fries at the store there. I’ve had insomnia for the last three nights and I just didn’t feel like BBQing. Hopefully the bike ride will encourage sleeping!

One of our grandsons is having a birthday and he loves wolves. He has since he was about a year old and his dad bought him a stuffed wolf. He now has many! So, I made three wolf cards and let hubby pick out the one he liked best. They are very similar, but different. This is wolf card number one, which did not get picked.

For each of the cards, I die cut a circle that fit perfectly behind the black trim that is part of the die out of a piece of masking paper which was also die cut to A2 size.  The wolf and small hill he is standing on, outer ring, mountain in the distance and a couple of trees are one die. Not much room for variation but I did manage some.

First I put the A2 card mask down and sponged two shades of yellow to form the moon - first Distress Oxide Lemon; then Distress Mustard Seed and then Distress Wild Honey to add some shadows. Then a bit of Distress Villainous Purple on the edge of the dabber to add in some clouds. Then that mask was removed and the moon mask was placed over the moon. The background was then inked with various blue and purple ink and then Distress Black Soot around the edge. I tried on a practice piece to add stars but they looked like snow so I gave up - for now!

So for this card, I hand cut some hills to go behind the wolf and die cut a couple more trees to fill in that left hand corner. It just looked unfinished. The sentiment is computer generated and adhered with a dimensional strip.

That’s all for a beautiful July 7, 2022.

Cheers

Violet
