It’s Monday again - and it was a very mild one. The weather in Ontario this winter has been beyond weird. This gem showed up on the computer today so I thought I would share it here. Its pretty darn accurate for most of Canada, definitely Ontario.
Today I’m posting 4 cards. I’ve been missing in action for awhile because we are dealing with someone stealing my sister-in-law’s debit card and making fraudulent purchases. She is in the hospital and cannot return to the retirement home so we are also searching for a nursing home for her. What a mess. If you know an elderly person who still has a debit card or credit card, please check their accounts to make sure they have not been violated.
Anyway, I did steal down to the lower studio (aka the basement) to make a few cards which helps reduce stress. A dear friend donated several stamps to me and this large background stamp is my all-time favourite.
Teal?
This one is more on the green side. I used a teal stamp and was confused at first as to why it looked more green than teal. Then I realized that the cardstock I stamped it on was not pure white. I had pulled out some older cardstock by mistake and it had a yellow tinge to it. Mystery solved and still pretty so no damage done. It was mounted on a green card base and the sentiment was stamped with VersaMark, heat set with white embossing powder on a strip of left over green.
Black:
This one was stamped with black ink and although I liked it, I decided to add just a bit of colour by colouring in those three flowers. I scribbled some water based markers onto an acrylic block and used a water brush to quickly colour them. I had to keep the water to a minimum as this was simply cardstock and not water colour paper. Dark Stickles were added to the centres. Seeing as I had to make a green card base for the first card, I made the second one and used the same type of sentiment.
Red:
I love how this one turned out and decided it would make a nice anniversary card. The ribbon was from my stash and it was glued down at the back before the front was glued to the white card base. The stitched circle was a die cut and a butterfly was glued to it. The butterfly trail is from a scroll set. The sentiment was stamped on a thin fish-tail border.
Purple
I’m thinking of using this stamp to make this month’s thinking of you card donation to the hospice. Because I make about 20 each month or so I need to make multiples, which I don’t usually do. I like one-of-a-kind cards but not 20 every month.
That’s all for a very mild Monday, February 13, 2023.
Cheers
Violet
