An elegant card for Merry Monday

Last night was our monthly quilt guild meeting. We enjoyed a local resident who gave us a talk about the Underground railway quilt and its meanings. I know its never been proven that this was a real code but still interesting and to me it sure makes sense so I'm inclined to believe it. This area of southern Ontario (was known as Kent county) is the end of the underground railway where thousands of slaves found freedom. We also had our usual show-and-share where my friend showed off the quilts I made and she helped quilt for the Alzheimer ward. Even with a microphone I don't think they would here me so she kindly talked for me.  Fun night and very talented ladies. If you want to see some of the quilts our guild makes, feel free to visit our Photobucket site. Log in as: ckqg and the password is: quilters

This week's challenge over at www.alwaysplayingwithpaper.ca was to make an elegant Christmas card. Here's mine:

I stamped the image with VersaMark and embossed it with gold embossing powder on black glossy paper. What says elegant more than black and gold! The black glossy paper was a left over piece and just a bit smaller than the card base so I added a strip of gold (also from the stash) along one side. It sort of looks brown in the photo but it s gold. Then I added the peel-and-stick sentiment, the star and the gold strip between the glossy paper and the gold strip. Love those peel-and-stick sheets.
That's it for today. Too hard to type with the one finger out of action.
