Kindness

Well, I'm still reeling with bad news what with the Boston Marathon tragedy and my best friend's husband losing his life to lung cancer last week. The Boston Marathon bombing scared the dickens out of me. One of my sons-in-law ran it last year and my daughter and two grandsons were there to watch him finish. He messed up somehow entering this year and didn't get in - a blessing I do believe. I can't imagine how anyone can do such a thing. Scary world we live in but I do believe with all my heart that love and kindness will overcome hate.

My friend's husband's funeral was yesterday morning. I was feeling well enough to go but sad, sad occasion. When I got home Joe gave me a hug and told me he was taking me out for Chinese food for lunch. Yesterday was the first time I was out of the house except for going to the doctor's and going for a chest x-ray in almost two weeks. After lunch we got groceries. He's been getting groceries for the last two weeks but he only got the bare necessities. He kept saying "Don't put down flour or stuff like that down because I have no idea which brand you use!" Well, we are now well stocked and my wallet is lighter. What a monster of a grocery bill! We were out of everything. I was so tired last night I flopped on the sofa after supper and watched the ball game while I read and forgot to post my card. So, I'm doing it today before I forget again.

I felt like actually doing something other than reading Sunday afternoon so I sat and did some digital scrapbooking. The pages were printed out in B&W and they turned out great so I printed them in colour on Kodak paper. It cut the last 3/4" off the bottom so no one had feet! I have no idea why it would print different in colour than in B&W! The pages were made 8x10 and I'm printing on
8-1/2x11 so there should have been no problem. Back to traditional scrapbooking I think.

I didn't make any cards last week but I had several from the week before so I have some to post yet.
Here's a thank you card I made.

More paper from the stash.....and it doesn't seem to matter how much of it I use, it never seems to go down. The background paper is just two sheets of left over paper joined in the middle and another thin strip of darker paper over the seam. The berries were stamped four times on white cardstock and then coloured with Tombow markers and then cut out. The edges were defined with a black marker and then I spritzed them with my home-made glitter mist. They are very shiny in real life. I stamped the  large sentiment in red on pink paper die cut with the square Spellbinder's die but it didn't show up very well so I went over it with a red glaze pen. Love it now. The bottom sentiment was stamped in charcoal and it is a Stampin' Up stamp.

May someone show you some kindness today and may you return the favor to another!
Blessings
Violet
