A Manly Card

Well we finally got the driveway shovelled out yesterday afternoon. Three brothers down the street from us do several driveways around here and we are more than happy to have them to it and I’m relieved that Joe doesn’t have to do it. We are now under a severe cold weather warning with the temperature, with wind chill, expected to be -30C (-22F) overnight and tomorrow morning. I checked the 14 day forecast and there are no days above -4C, so it will be awhile before all this snow melts. At least the roses are completely covered in snow which will act as insulation for them; otherwise, we would have lost several of them.

I’ve been posting a lot of cards lately but don’t forget if you want to see other pieces I’ve made, just click on the right title under “Labels”. There are several titles besides cards; mixed media, art journal pages, quilting, tole painting, etc.  This will just bring up posts under that label.

I’m switching from posting ladies birthday cards to a man’s birthday card today.

When I made the card for the Stamping Bella challenge last week I had some of the paper bits left over so I used them to make another card instead of adding them to the stash. Three strips were taped together and then glued to the card base and then the gold strips were added. These are cheater strips. They don’t go all the way across but just under the dark brown label. That’s why I save all those short bits.

The motorcycle stamp is from Hot Off the Press from Paper Wishes. Only the three things are coloured in with a Tombow marker because I didn’t see the need to try to colour in the entire thing. I find the motorcycle really pops with just those three things coloured. Once I die cut it (Spellbinders) I sponged light ink around the edges while still in the die and then added more gold strips because without them, the motorcycle looked like it was floating in space. The dark brown was die cut with the larger die from the same set and embossed. Then the three small gold doodads were added. I find I have to be more creative when making cards for men because they don’t like anything flowery, glittery or fussy. This one should do.

Cheers

Violet
