Be Careful What You Wish For

You know that old say, “Be careful what you wish for!” well today is a good example of that. We wished for warmer temperatures and we got them but along with it came more snow, then even more snow, then rain, then freezing rain, then more rain. What a mess it is. If it goes below freezing tonight, look out!

I was going to post a scrapbook layout today but that is put on hold for now. It was warm enough to spend some time in the lower studio today so I made a couple of cards this afternoon. One of them was for the Merry Monday challenge which is to make a Christmas card each week. This week’s challenge, due tomorrow at noon, was to use an ornament on the card. Here is mine.

I had these silver ornaments peel-and-stick stickers so I peeled them off and laid them on top of this shiny, glittery paper and cut around them. Then I wasn’t sure what paper to put them on. I laid them out on several different papers and didn’t like any of them. Some backgrounds were too busy, some wrong colour, some just didn’t suit the ornaments. Then I spotted this piece of paper from a 6” pack from Studio G. The stars were coloured in with a Tombow marker which helped some but when I laid the ornaments on top the background was just too blah. So I dusted off a Fiskar’s embossing plate and embossed the snowflakes. These embossing plates are much wider then folders so I was able to emboss the entire card front. But it was still rather blah looking so I took a sponge with Broken Glass Distress ink on it and just barely hit the tops of some of the snowflakes. What a difference that made! It’s a little hard to see in the photo but in real life it looks quite nice. The chains holding the ornaments up and the sentiment are also from peel-and-stick sheets. Paper Wishes calls these Dazzles but I have no idea if that’s where they came from or if they were from our local scrapbook store, The Paper Pickle. I’ve bought quite a few sheets at the Paper Pickle. They have a great selection and I like to buy local when I can.

One more Christmas card completed!

Cheers
