We
are having another heat wave – in September!!! The temperatures for the last
few days…and the next few days as well….are right around 90F and with the high
humidity – over 100F. Luckily for us we live near several bodies of water and
it is always much cooler there. Saturday we did another 25.6km (just over 16
miles) at Rondeau Park; Sunday was a BBQ and relaxing along the St. Clair River and today is
laundry and more relaxing. It’s way too hot in the city to be outside doing
anything.
Upgrading
to Windows 10. Here’s our story. One laptop upgraded with no problems and it
works like a charm. One ,we assume, we didn’t upgrade the drivers first and it
was not working right so we reverted back to Windows 8.1 but will do all the
upgrades and return to Windows 10. My computer has Office Outlook 2003 and we
found out, thanks to my neighbour, that Windows 10 will not work well if
Outlook 2003 is left on so I will need to buy Outlook 2012 (the latest edition)
before upgrading. If you are thinking of upgrading, make sure you do a complete
upgrade of the drivers first and remove Office Outlook 2003 if you have it.
Today’s
card is really quite different than my normal cards, but I think it will work
well for a man’s birthday card….they don’t like anything fussy after all!
The
hexagons are a stamp from Close to my Heart that I recently bought from their
last catalogue. I stamped several of them on white cardstock and cut them out and inked the edges.
Then I stamped some on some light brown cardstock that I had made into a card
base, and the edges were inked as well! The ones that I had cut out were then
attached over top just some of the stamped ones to give some dimension. The car
and the tag are the negative bits from a HOTP dazzle from Paper Wishes. I didn’t
want to waste them so I cut around them leaving a slight border and used the
transfer sheet to remove them and glued them to the light brown cardstock. Then I cut around
that and glued them to the card. I added some short left-over gold strips under
the car and some swishes of brown ink to ground the car. It looked like it was
floating! Then some jute was tied around it.
That’s
all for a steaming hot Labour Day Monday
Cheers
Violet
