Cat Fabric on Cards

Brrrr. The cold, cold wind really brought the temperatures down today. We opted out of a walk today to go get groceries and run some errands instead. This morning we had a surprise visit from one of my best friends and card making buddies who gave us a beautiful hand-crafted card and a loaf of zucchini bread. After she left Joe says, “So glad Jane brought me my zucchini bread!” Me, “What? Your zucchini bread? I don’t think so buddy.” Big sad puppy dog face with a pout from you know who followed. “But I love her zucchini bread. So, you’ll share right?” Me, “I was planning on sharing it all along…until you started referring to it as yours!” Men, honestly! Yes, I’m sharing.

We had lunch at Tim Horton’s today and it just happens to be right beside Michaels so I popped in there for just a minute….or two….or three. I was looking for clear plastic earring backings to use when I make beaded sticks for my cards….had a hard time finding them but finally did…but I looked around to see what was on sale and lo and behold, all Christmas paper and stamps and accessories were on sale 70% off. I passed on the paper as I’m about one paper pack away from being on hoarders but there were two Christmas stamps that I kept eyeing before Christmas and didn’t get them even though they were on for 50% off one day when I was there. Today they were 70% off and they jumped into my basket. I also picked up some die cut snowflakes at 70% and the card/envelope packs which were 50% off. My Christmas cards are made and mailed but I just might start on next years with my two new stamps!

Today’s Christmas card was made using fabric instead of paper for the focal image.

 

I bought this fabric last year and forgot to use it. So, out of the stash it came this year. Love the expression on the cat’s face! First thing I did was to iron it to fusible web and then ironed it on to cardstock. I laid a piece of fabric without the fusing on the green polka dot paper and it showed through so it had to be backed. Then I fussy cut around the cup and cat and glued it to the green polka dot paper. The edges were lined with black ink. It was then glued to the plaid paper which was glued to the white card base. Then I die cut some green cardstock using the Tim Holtz holiday pine leaf die, sponged Walnut Distress Ink here and there and then glued it to the card. Then I ran some Tombow glue over the top and added the glitter. I made three different cat fabric cards to go to friends and family that really like cats.
